Okay, so I haven't seen the movie, but I'm really excited by it. Know you are all probably staring at your monitors going--huh?:woah: :bug:

You've probably heard, that the movie & book are based on true events that happend in Somalia. It is and I know this because, my cousin was one of those Rangers doing the rescue way back in '93. I called him today to see if he is in the movie, ie. a character named after him. He says there's a soldier named Sean, but it's not him technically.

So this is why I'm so excited, I'm actually more curious just to see, plus when I talked to him today (he's not in the Army anymore) he said it was very well done. He went to see it with his brother and said it was very true to what happend. My cousin also told me that when the author was preparing to write the book, he called a bunch of guys, my cousin being one of them and they talked for 3 hours.

I still remember when he went, because we corresponded by letter back then and he actually called me before he was sent out. He was stationed in Alaska for his term, and he didn't call me that much, so I knew something was up. He told me that he wouldn't be able to write for awhile and that I shouldn't worry (yeah right!) and he'd get in touch when he got back. Of course, I asked where he was going and he just said "you know better than to ask me that" about a week later, the stories started coming out of Somalia about our soliders. When I saw the ads for Black Hawk Down, I *knew* it was about him & his group.

If anyone has seen it, let me know what you think, and it's okay if you hate it, I won't take it as an attack toward my family.
