View Full Version : emotions crystal?

Hello,
I was wondering what crystal(s) other people use to calm their emotions?
I'm talking about pmt style feelings which for me are fear (generally my deepest fears come to the surface), unsettled feelings, tearful, and scary flutterings in stomach, chest and thoat at not being able to cope/keep a handle on everything. Sound familiar?!
I get very physically tense in an effort to keep control of my emotions at these times - so generally need something to help me chill out but also not to make me drowsy so that I can't do anything productive...or am I asking too much and I should just chill out on these days lol!
Any advice gratefully received ;)

try a combination of
snake skin jasper (http://de.msnusers.com/czechwoodsgems/jasper2jaspis2.msnw) with orange apophylite/heulandite (http://de.msnusers.com/czechwoodsgems/zeoliteheulandite.msnw).
also i would suggest you take kyanite (http://de.msnusers.com/czechwoodsgems/ihrewebseite1.msnw) so you can learn to express that which is bothering you and a natural peace agate (white) (http://de.msnusers.com/czechwoodsgems/achatagate5weisswhite.msnw) or a brazilian agate: natural (http://de.msnusers.com/czechwoodsgems/agateachat.msnw) or green dyed (http://de.msnusers.com/czechwoodsgems/agate2dyedachat2.msnw) preferably.
this would be something that could help you a great deal i suppose. sorry for answering this late, was busy playing with my rocks. lol

If there's stuff to know about rocks CzechWoods knows it. :fpraise:
Thanks for those, I learned something knew today. :weirdsmil
I usually use black onyx.

Iron ores such as hematite can usually be helpful in that sort of situation and are more common than some of the stuff off of Czech's list (although I adore kyanite, agates, and jasper)
Also, if you're at all into energywork, a large chunk of quartz could always be 'charged' with what you're feeling and then left in a water bath to cleanse it and remove the emotions.

Hiya.
Many thanks to everyone who repled with all your ideas/preferences - all very useful and very grateful for your thoughts! I'll reply to you all in one mail...
CzechWoods: wow what a list of interesting stones! I have quite a collection myself but none of these, sadly. But I'll keep a look out at my local crystals shop. Yep, expression of the things that bother me is essential but at the same time I'm frightened of what I might unleash!! I've never really let go! Would the agates calm down what I express (or is that not the point lol).
Mouse: I've got some black onyx but never used it/never have it out. Maybe I should give this one a go since I have it! ;)
Feroxyhite: Ah my old friend hematite :D I love this one although it can make me feel extremely heavy sometimes. And I get strange sensations work through my body (on all my weak areas) when I first pick up a piece of hematite. I heard it prevents cramps and I get these in my feet, so every day and night i walk around with bits of hematite in my socks lol!!
Do you know how best to cleanse hematite so I can keep its strength - or does it not need it?
I also love clear quartz (my first ever crystal). Could the water bath be just boiled then cooled tap water?? Do i need any sea salt? Sorry - am new to this!
Thank you all again!
All best... x

Feroxyhite: Ah my old friend hematite I love this one although it can make me feel extremely heavy sometimes.
I get this alot when I work with hematite too, I think it has something to do with the balancing effect it can play. Like if you're on one end of a seesaw, and then it moves up some, whether you just go to the middle or move all the way to the top, it still feels strange at first?

Never heard that tidbit, now I know what to use! I get cramps in my feet and legs all the time. (Probably lack of potassium...) Diet usually helps stop them but I don't always keep to a 'healthy' diet.
Do you know how best to cleanse hematite so I can keep its strength - or does it not need it?
Because it's so dense, both physically and spiritually IMO, I think your best bet with hematite would probably be leaving it in some finer grain salt or a cleansing herb mix. Liquid's may rust it depending on the iron count, and rough salt's might take off the shine if you have a nicely polished piece. As far as the herbs go, some mint, thyme, and maybe some bay? Then probably a simple prayer over it to 're-charge' and empty it a little.
I also love clear quartz (my first ever crystal). Could the water bath be just boiled then cooled tap water?? Do i need any sea salt? Sorry - am new to this!
Oh of course, no need to find a running stream or such if you can't easily do such. As for sea salt, usually I don't mix salts into my water baths when it's for something like this. If you already have some, just leaving the crystal in/on some of that for several days (3 or 7 would probably be good numbers) and maybe just a prayer under some running tap water if you're still a tad worried.

If hematite seems a little "heavy" at times....try citrine. I love hematite, but sometimes it's just too much for me. Citrine works well in those instances.

People have mentioned more "common" stones for your purpose. They are all great suggestions too. I though, prefer celestite for calming, and especially fear. Hematite is sooo strong for me I can only work with it occasionally.
Celestite is a "communication" stone. My guess why it works for me is that it helps me communicate with why I am frightenened and see deep down in to myself. I generally use different stones for different purposes on myself that other people though. So this may or may not work for you.

Oh what a brilliant description! That's how I feel! I always find myself being pulled downards more on one side than the other. What could that mean d'you think? Is it about brain balancing?

Damn, until recently I've been avoiding changing diet to solve the problem! Why is it always the things I avoid changing for years that are the right path for me lol! I'd heard the problem could be potassium, but not actually tried it...must do! As an example of how hematite helped me...I was working outside at a rabbit sanctuary for the first time - lots of physcial work - and I had a bead of hematite in each sock. When I got home, and for the next couple of days, *everything* ached (I was very unfit then) *except* my feet! I had got into the pattern of avoiding anything physical for fear of cramps in my feet, so this was an amazing turnaround for me :D I'd be interested to hear if it works for you too :)
Thank you for all the tips on cleansing hematite and quartz. Very handy. With the herb mix, do you just lie it in a bed of fresh herbs? Funnily enough, I've just finished planting some mint and thyme today before I read this post. Coincidence?! And we have bay in the garden :)
I tried cleansing some of my hematite beads, and some amethyst too, with lavender essential oil the other night. Read this on the internet somewhere. I think it helped a bit, but it's hard to tell as I've never cleansed crystals at all, as only been using them a short while.
Thanks again for all your help. Good to chat with you x

LOL, guess what I bought on ebay the other day, before reading this post!! :D Can't wait till they arrive, especially with this tip now too.
So how do you use citrine? I bought it to calm down my stomach as that's one of the physical problems I get because of being stressed out! So maybe citrine would lift my mood, which would stop me getting so stressed, which would then stop the physical symptoms? Let's hope so :D
Cheers... x

one thing i would recommend to stay away from when calming emotions is lapis lazuli. I have a piece which brought out all sorts of worries. So that's one stone i would recommend you to stay away from for that situation.

Always good to bump this section. For the kyanite. try to find gem quality. It's rare and can cost about $22 USD but is very pretty and reacts the same way as regular blue kyanite not to mention a lot stronger.

I use a combination: Peace Agate, Rose quartz, Hemetite, and now that I have a piece of kyanite I wil also use it. Clams and also enhances my empathic gifts.

I'm not quite sure what it is. I haven't even really worked with crystals much in the last year (It's the first thing I ever started with since I started collecting when I was very young and eventually figured out I had some sort of attraction to them on a deeper level) Hopefully now that I'm getting back into it, I can learn more about how some stones work (at least on me)

I'll definitely be trying it. :)

If the stone is safe to get wet and the plants aren't chockful of things that could harm it, a decotion/tea is usually fine but a fresh bed of the herbs is nice too. If you went the decotion route, I'd maybe bless it or say a prayer over it, bottle it, and use it as a cleansing solution for a while. A few drops and some directed intent should do it after that.

the fear is on one hand understandable but at the other hand unnecessary. it is only what you can name that you can overcome. so communicating what is the root of the fear will NOT make it bigger but help you to fight it.
like imagine you were in that amusement park thing, where you go with a waggon through a dark "haunted house". those things are scary, but mostly because they come out of the dark and you cant be prepared. the not knowing whats to happen next and the surprise action, is what makes you feel the fear in that amusement park house.
if you were to look behind the scenes, at daylight, and someone would help you explain what causes yourt fear, the fear itself would be lot less (if at all) the next time you were in the "haunted house". the orange apophylite/heulandite though, is ultimately necessary in your case, as to reduce the fear of the fear

Thanks for this info. I have been steering clear of lapis lazuli after reading this. I have some beads of this stone but haven't experimented with them yet, and will hold off until calmer times!
Thanks too for info on kyanite!

Thanks to Feroxyhite again and also Dragonsinger for all your thoughts on this too!! Greatly appreciated :)

Oh how true is that!!! I've been through some cognitive therapy recently and this is just the kind of thing I learned. Just have to keep reminding myself ;)

I guess I do fear fear, I hadn't really thought of it like that. I was about to type 'no this isn't right' but I don't think that's entirely true.
But what I meant about being afraid of what I might unleash is actually something different... I'm afraid that all the rage and bitterness that I've bottled up for years and years will be too much for me and particularly others to bear!!! I kind of feel like I'll be letting down a damn and there's not just a tsunami waiting behind the damn (I know that's not literally possible, but you know what i mean!!) but a volcano, a massive earthquake and a nuclear explosion all waiting to be released!!! It's fear of the destruction I could cause if I poke my feelings a bit too far - ie start to express myself. Years of bottling up has just increased the emotions, layer upon layer. The end result will have to be letting go and lashing out (in a controlled environment?!) otherwise I could explode at the wrong time and alienate everyone...
My boyfriend suggests something like kickboxing or smashing up an old telly or computer so that my emotions are released and directed at something that won't get hurt, and so that I don't just destroy the room I'm sitting in (the first thing that comes to mind when I start to feel that distressed). Would something like this help, or would it provoke a need to repeat this kind of release over and over? Kind of feeding the fury??
Sorry, moved off directly talking about crystals in this but this was/is my concern over using an expression crystal!!
Sorry too that this reply is so late coming... my life's pretty hectic!!
All best x

the french say: if you chase that which is natural, it will come back in tantivy/gallop
so in your case. if there is so much wanting to be released, surpressing it, will make it only worse.
if there is so much supressed, i would not start by senseless violemnce as in destruction of stuff, nor violence like kick boxing. instead, try appache tears, and snoflake obsidian.
break the damms that keep the tsunami from coming. so what. so you will explosde ? so it be. your friends, who love you, will support you, and the rest of them can go and kiss your bootie.
sorry for being frank.
know what makes a tsunami so dangerous ?
it is that the havens/ports/shores are taking away place adding pressure. dont put up massive to prevent the wave from rolling. let it flow, and go away from you or else you might drown in its massiveness

Damn that's what my higher self was telling me... except without the exact crystals to use! Many thanks for these. I have snowflake obsidian I think but not appache tears. Is one without the other ok?

LOL thank you. That's my root trouble - I worry way to much what people think. I think that if I don't behave in the appropriate way then everyone'll disappear and I'll be left all alone...and not knowing who I am! I'm working on this, but hence my trouble freely expressing myself, especially such deep harsh emotions. But you're so right. This ridiculous cycle's gotta end somewhere!

Damn again! It all keeps coming back to letting go, going with the flow - not trying to control everything! Again you're completely right.
Oh and today some progress... before reading this post, even... I was so upset and worried about my rabbit being ill (as you've read in a separate post)
that I really wanted to cry. Normally i'd fight back the tears and try and keep control of myself - leading to an awful pain in the throat and no one knowing how upset I am. This time I got out my newly acquired blue lace agate and let myself cry away. It really helped! I felt much more stable for the rest of the day :)
Many thanks x
