View Full Version : I think my 6 month old has empathy...

Now, I know that babies are affected by the emotions that people around them show, but my son seems to be worse (better?) than any other baby I've been around. If I yell at one of my older kids, he'll start crying. If I'm stressed out about it he'll get upset but then look at me and smile like he's trying to make me feel better. If I'm really upset he starts wailing. The other day I was really upset and he started crying really hard so I focused on calming down and when I did, so did he. When I stopped, he went right back to crying. I had to sit there and focus on being calm or he would start crying. Any ideas on how I can help him? Do you think this is just normal baby sensitivity?

I personally have never known an empath to show their gifts at so early an age. Could be the child has the beginnings of being an empath. But I am more inclined to think tis is a normal baby thing. But keep watching him and seeing how things go as this may develope into something more in time.

I don't know if it's empathy at that age, or if it's the super strong connection between mom and baby. If it's empathy, you may need to learn how to shield for him until he can learn for himself, so that he doesn't always have all these emotions that a baby shouldn't have to experience that early in life. That's just my .02 worth. :hugz:
