*gasp!* Queen of the Damned? As in Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned? Who's in it?
If it's Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise I'm boycotting it.
I've seen Lord of the Rings once.

Aaliayh or however you spell her name, plays the Queen. I can't wait to see it myself.
BTW, I've never seen LOTR.

I never could rememeber that names. Is legolos (sp?) the elf? All the elves had such long chins ... it was cool!
Queen of the Damned is on my list to. I read Interveiw...., and was going to start the Vampire Lestat, but i accidently left it in church.
And ironically, i'm watching Interveiw with the Vampire now. Sorta. I'm more payin attention to this than that. Mostly because the book, althought a mildly slow read, cannot be surpassed in excellance.
So, what number is queen of the damned?

Queen of the Damned is number 3

January 20th, 2002, 09:29 PM
yep. as in Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned :)
Aaliyah plays Akasha
nope. Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise are not in this movie. 2 new ppl play their characters. That totally sucks though. I wanted them back for this movie!

I've seen LOTR 4 times, and am conteplating a fifth. I am reading the books for the 7th time now as well. Can you tell I love these books. Anyhoo, I ranted in another thread how they lost at the Golden Globes. But that's all right, we'll get'em at the Oscars! ;)
Queen of the Damned is one of my favorite out of the Vampire Chronicle books. I LOVED the Vampire Lestat. *drool*. Not because Tom Cruise played Lestat, because I just LOVE Lestat, the character.
I've seen Interview as well, and thought it was fairly decent. My fave honey is in it, Christian Slater :mmm because he took over for River Phoenix. I like the book MUCH better.
So far my to see movie list is: LOTR another time, Jimmy Neutron (my son's choice), Black Hawk Down (family reasons) and Godsford Park. Finding the time & $$$ is the only thing that keeps me from doing so.

Yeah I can finally vote! I just saw the movie tonight. I really enjoyed it but because I read the books first, albeit awhile ago, I found myself constantly asking but what about this part? Sigh i guess I will just have to get the DVD when it comes out so that I can see all the cut footage. And yes I know the movie was three hours long but in spite of that and the fact that I was reminded of back labour from sitting so long I would have sat longer. :D

The Frodo dude was on Letterman last night (re-run). He's kinda cute when he's not looking like a hobbit. I've only seen it once tho (the movie that is). I tried to read the book but it's sooooo long and sooooo boring.

I was reading some reviews for it yesterday. grrr. One reviewer gave it 2 and 1/2 stars becuase he thought the hobbits where to small. and he didn't like the plot. But how can hobbits be to small? grr.

i've only seen it once, quite enjoyed it. there are minor differences from the books but they do not (so far) spoil the story, at least not for me, and i'm fairly familiar with the story as told in the books. when it comes out on video tape i will be adding it to my permanent collection.

Seen it four times, with maybe more to come. Thankfully I work at a theatre and my movie excertions are quite free. :D :D
I'm not going to gripe on what was the same and what was different....I did that enough the first time I saw it....I will say that for what they had to work around (mostly time constraints) they did exceptionally well. I found Sam Gamgee exceedingly cute, and Pippin, oh my what a doll!....everyone likes Legolas, but what about my dear hobbits? Hehe

I have been able to see that movie 3, count em' 3 times! And I agree that Legolas gets cuter each time. Orlando Bloom is a major hottie! But that is not the reason I have seen the movie so many times. I think Peter Jackson (I think that's his name) did a swell job making the movie. Although before seeing the movie I had mixed emotions about Elijah Woods, I loved the casting and the scenery was amazing. I give the movie about 100 thumbs up! Can't wait to see the others!

Yeah, Sam is the love of my life...its just too bad that...::cough:: Ms Cotton...
I loved him from beginning to end and he's still my favorite. There's nothing like the dignity, loyalty, and kindness that I see in him. And, seemingly, he knows no fear when his loved ones are involved.

Yes, he is by far the best character. And he gets the girl in the end! And it doesn't say it in the books, but in Lost Tales you find out that he becomes mayor of Hobbitown in coming years.
