OK...I know I'm not "old" (for crying out loud I'll only be 30 this year). But...I just had one of my first "adult" conversations with my daughters.

The oldest just turned 10 last week, and the younger will be 10 in July. So, we had "The Period" conversation. It went very well, they were not at all embarassed and I think they understand pretty good so when the time come hopefully they don't freak out. But...

MY BABIES!!!!! :wah2: My precious little girls are growing up!!!! and it makes me feel so "old" to have to talk to them about stuff like that!

Well you might feel old (and you're not), but at least you're being a good mum :hugz: My mum's idea of the talk was "Shower every day, the towels are in my drawer." And that was after I started

And look on the upside. They're only ten, so you have all the raging hormones to look forward to :D

Nothing like those parental milestones... :D

You're not old... though I can relate to the feeling. _pounce_

I have small conversations about it with my 11 yr. old girl. The latest was to suggest that she carry a pad in her bookbag, just in case she should need it at school.

I will be having a conversation soon about whether or not she'd like a ritual to commemorate with the coven.

Add to that the fact my my young cousin... whose diapers I used to change... is now 19 and PREGNANT and I feel really old too, even though I'll only be 32 this year.

I am so glad to know I am not the only one going through things like this :hugz: Tzhebee. My duaghter turns 9 in two days and some of the things we have discussed it is like wow she has changed so much and grown so much. And I am sure the The Period" conversation will come up again soon cause man she is showing all the signs..

I feel really old too, even though I'll only be 32 this year. Hey I turn 32 this year to :D I like to think that age is a state of mind some days your younger feeling other days well make you go hmmm :)

My oldest turned 18 this year. I don't feel old, but it sure does feel weird to be the parent of another adult! :blushake:

Awww, Tzhebee!

*hands Tzhebee a Kleenex, and gives reassuring pats on the back*

I had to have the "period" talk with my daughter a couple of years ago. I'm very, very glad I did that, and my husband and I also had "The Sex Talk" with her at the same time. And I'm very glad that we bought HER books that explained it all.

I got the "period" talk from my mom a little too late....I called her to come pick me up at school since I'd gotten my first period that day.

I had "the talk" with my daughter, and sure enough, right around Christmas of last year, she had her first period.

I was SO not ready for that. She's going to be 12 this year....and I'm only 30, and will have turned 31 right before her 12th birthday!

*sniffle, sniffle* Oh, what the heck, slide over Tzhebee, we'll have ourselves a full-blown "my baby's growing up!" pity party!

*heats up the kettle for a cuppa, and breaks out the chocolate*

OK....I'm a GRANDMA! I watched my daughter give birth!

And as for 9 being too young for 'the talk' .... I was 9 when I started! And they say girls are maturing earlier now.

I didn't feel old until my kid turned 25. I looked back at where I was at that age, and admired him for doing so many positive things with his life.

Hell, after that I just fastened my safety belt and enjoyed the ride!:broomride
