I just bought this book Tarot for Your Self by Mary K. Greer -
What do ya'll think about this book, if you've seen it?
I've been through the first half of the first chapter, and have enjoyed it - though there are things about finding your Personality and Soul Cards that are creepy.

I really love this book, I think its almost a must for all people interested in tarot. I also love that it really connects it to other things like crystals, kabalah, etc. I think it gives pretty good interpretations, and I love the affirmations b/c I do daily card draws so i just jot down the affirmation on a post it and stick it to my computer screen to stare at all day long!! Its such a great book and it really gets you familiar with the cards. I think that this book is a MUST!!

Could you describe a little more about the book for those of us who are unfamiliar with it? It might get us interested enough to go out and pick up a copy.

It's done in a workbook style format, with a spread of cards at the beginning of each chapter that says something about how the cards relate to each other.
I'm only in Chapter 2, but I'm enjoying it immensely.
the author uses several tarot decks in her examples and discussions, giving a base for working with different systems of symbols.
She talks about different ways of preparing a deck for use, of getting yourself in the proper mindset for doing a reading, and encourages the reader to develop their own methods of approaching readings and meditations on the cards.
Chapters include:
The Tarot Journal
The Court Card Personalities
Becoming Conscious of what you Create
Crystals and Tarot
Design and Creativity with the Tarot
She includes a brief appendix about the possible origins of the Tarot and known history, and includes several different spreads and ways of utilizing the cards for a variety of purposes.
*turns to a random chapter*
Her chapter 6 is about the deeper meanings in each card, and is a variety of discussions about the relationships between the cards.
One of the exercises includes looking through your major arcana at the way that some of them are paired off (Emperor/Empress) and then she asks you to consider how well these pairs function for you, whether there are other cards that you can see pairing up, and if there are cards that you can't see together at all. Then she asks you to consider if you'd learned anything new about the cards from looking at these relationships.
So far it looks promising, though this close to the end of the semester, I don't have time to do some of the exercises.

I like the book. I prefer her book The Complete Guide to Tarot Reversals, it is my go-to reference book for all things tarot. :)

Hmm... could be worth checking out. I like my out of print tarot book- can't remember the name, but is about healing through tarot. Really cool.
