Hi everyone,

I was wondering if I should do anything on my birthday ritual wise. I am new at this (been reading for about 2 years, but not much practise) So anything simple that doesn't really require anything other than a candle? (As I don't have any tools and stuff.) Please respond quick cause I'm turning 17 tommorow!! :loveduv:

Thanks! Meghan

Well, what does your birthday mean to you? What does it represent? What does being 16 or 17 represent to you? Then cast a circle and call the quarters (or do whatever you feel is right) and spend time meditating on these things, possibly with appropriate mind keys..?

It depends on what you feel like doing. I mean, having a birthday party with all your friends around & cake & blowing out candles. That's a ritual. You can always do some kind of rite of passage thing. Think of how you feel about turning 17. Do you think this will be a different year for you? What do you hope to achieve this year? Think of what you've achieved so far. Any changes you want to make? Any regrets? Think of your goals - spiritual & mundane. At this point, you can decide if you want to share this with your friends or do it solitary & go from there. Usually for my birthday, I like to go down to the river & sit & reflect on the same thoughts. I light a candle there & meditate. Mind you, my birthday's in the middle of summer.

Tool-wise, you really don't need a lot. It's amazing what you can come up with just a candle or two. Have a happy birthday tomorrow. :)

Thanks, that really helps, you guys are so sweet to respond so quick like that, that post must have been up for 10 minutes and I got 2 nice helpful responses. =) Any other ideas or just telling me what the rest of you do on your birthdays would be appreciated! Because I am on foreign exchange right now in Germany so it's just a completly other kind of birthday than any one I've ever had and I want to do something special spiritually for the 1st time, since I am finally getting over my fears on becoming pagan. So Thanks Myst and Wildchild =) And I will have a very happy birthday =) See you all when I'm 17 hehehe, just a few more hours now..

I just did this , 'cuz my birthday is the day ( 'bout 100 yrs) before yours, so I know it works...

The only tools you will need: 1 pizza, piled high with your favorite toppings (mine was half bacon cheeseburger, & half Super pepperoni... musta weighed 6 pounds!), & libation of your choice (& NO alcoholic beverages, if you are underage! AND I MEAN IT!!! If in doubt, check your local ordinances).

After receiving your pizza, consider it's round shape as your sacred circle... inhale the sweet incense of it's aroma... mmmmmm... place a candle at the pizza's very center, & light it... sing "Happy Birthday" to yourself... then poor a little libation out, hail you favorite Gods & Goddesses, & drink to them. Take your first bite of the pizza, slowly savoring it's innermost mysteries... now eat as much as you can, but be sure to save at least the last bite as an offering to the aforementioned Gods & Goddesses (in gratitude for not exploding, 'cuz you might have if you'd eaten that last bite!). When the pizza is gone, the circle is ended.

This rite can be performed alone, or with a group.

Nothing wrong with having a deep spiritual experience, just remember...

It's your Birthday... have fun with it!

Hehe but I am in germany, I'm not underage, kids here are allowed to drink at 16! But no worrys, I don't drink at all ever. It's just not something I want to do. Thanks for the pizza ritual =) I think I'm gonna substitute it for lasagna tonight, I'm going to an Italian resturant with my host family =) See you!
