Have any of you visited any famous haunted houses? I think I'd like to visit the Lizzie Borden house, and the one that the woman who was married to Remmington (i think it was remmington), built. The woman who built the house, was at one time married to a man who invented a certain type of rifle. When he died, she began to conduct seances. During these Seances', the spirits told her that her husband died because of all of the lives his invention killed. And that to escape the same punishment, she would have to continually build on her house..non stop. So she began elaborate desighns on the house, to outsmart the "spirits". She built stairways leading to no where. Staircases which led to no where, elaborate windows. Doorways that opened to a ten story drop....closets which opened onto a solid wall...etc. They say she still haunts this odd house. I'd like to see it, just for the architechtural features, personally.

hiya :)
I've never been to any famous haunted houses, but I live in a haunted house. lol :) The one house you were talking about is the Winchester Mystery House. Sarah Winchester had it built so the spirits of the ppl killed by her husband's rifles (Winchester Rifles) wouldn't hurt her or kill her. :)

heheh..myst..that one has been on at least eight documentaries on haunted places that I've seen so far. I guess that's part of the reason I want to visit it so much..lol. I've seen it so often..it's almost as if I've already seen it.
I did go to Ghettysburg, though, and toured some of the houses there. You really do get a "haunted" feeling in many sites around Ghettysburg.

Thanks Aradia...don't know why I was thinking Remmington! Both gun inventors, though. Thanks for the correction!

I've seen that house on TV too. Really weird place but beautiful, though. There was another show on Haunted Houses last night on the History channel. I only watched a part of it.

I've only been to one haunted house, and that was the Winchester Mystery House. It's very much NOT haunted but, it's still worth a visit. The gardens are beautiful, and the house is just plan neat to walk around in. It's a fun little tour to take, if you happen to be in San Jose and have the time.
The only well known haunted place that creeps me out in the Queen Ann. I think that's what it's called, anyway.
It's an old ship they've turned into a hotel. It's supposed to be extremely haunted. Never been there to know for sure though.

I've been to the Tower of London. It's said to be very haunted, & the Yeoman that led the tour the first time I went made it sound as if there were so many ghosts you'd be bumping in to them everywhere. I didn't experience any, & was disappointed. It was a neat place, though, especially if you're interested in history & armor.
Oh, if you do go, plan to spend AT LEAST a half day there (if not more). If you take one of those bus tours & are given the opportunity to buy tix to the Tower (also Madame Tussauds) on the bus to avoid lines at ticket booths...DO IT!!!! I didn't, & stood in line 45 min. at the Tower...in the middle of the week...in the rain...in March.

If you want to go to a haunted place in Merry Olde England, go to York. The place is meant to be full of them, not surprising due to its bloody history. I've yet to visit there myself.
