I got into tarot cards after i was formaly introducted to them by my best friend. I started reading them and wasnt bad at it, and got them read over a thousand times. However, everytime Kirstin or Tiffany reads cards they always go Oh and theres a blond man or a red headed woman, or blah blah blah, And i want to know HOW they know that? I mean it's always with certain cards i jut dont know which ones. And i've never asked but i'd really like to know cause it confuses the HELL out of me. And then kirstin always says Under/over 40, how does she tell that to? Anyone help? Thankyou

Two words "Court Cards"
In general the court cards are good ways of discribing people.
Swords are generaly fair haired people with blue or hazel eyes.
Wands brown, aurbun or red heads again blue or hazel eyes.
Cups brown or fair hair with blue or brown eyes.
Coins are usualy dark haired with a swathy complextion and dark eyes.
Kings are generaly more mature men 30 - 40 ish though some men mature sooner so would be a king sooner.
Queens are generaly mature ladies again 20 -30 but motherhood also brings this age group forward
Knights are generaly 20-30's
Pages are children to teens

I think some people use the physical attributes of Court cards in readings. The traditional guidelines are usually as follows:
Kings - Mature men
Queens - Mature women
Knights - Younger men
Pages - Younger women or children
Wands - Red hair, light complexion, green or brown eyes
Swords - Dark hair, light complexion, light eyes
Pentacles - Dark hair, dark complexion, dark eyes
Cups - Blonde, fair complexion, light eyes
The important thing to remember, though, is that Court cards don't always represent people. They can also come up to represent an aspect of someone's personality. In this case the physical attributes associated with each card can become quite irrelevant. :)

I had a fun experience with my phantasmagoric theater tarot once. A client asked me to describe the person I saw in my cards, so I gave her some characteristice of his personality. But she insisted on a physical description. I drew the King of Cups and told her he had dark hair and an unusual hairstyle (the KofC in that deck has cones all over his head) and a heart shaped tattoo and dark eyes. She said "Ah! I know exactly who that is, thanks!" I've never dared to try that again, but it sure worked that time.

That' s really cool. :)
I'm always reluctant to give physical descriptions, even though I sometimes can see the person in my mind's eye.

yeah that would be really risky. But still that must have been fun at the time!

Wow. I had no idea there was something like this in tarot. Seems like a LOT of fun, especially with my dear Queen of Wands masquerading as Galadriel. Think of the confusion I'd raise when I tell them that the Queen of Wands represents a redhead!
... Perhaps this is why I keep getting so many pentacles and cups in my readings; I have lots of blonde/lighthaired friends, and my family's Filipino.
I think I'll keep this in mind the next time I do a reading. :D

i have only done physical descriptions once, and i was right on the nail... i go more on feeling than what the suits or the pictures depict, though.. not sure how, its just intuition, i guess... everybody reads differently, so don't worry too much if your style is different than your friends.
