Ok well Im Pagan and all but I have been reading Sylvia Brown books and I never before beleived in god and heaven, Still dont but reading her books make me relize that there might be different views that I beleive about it all, If that makes sense.
Like Sylvia said that when you die you choose to come back again in a different life form and I beleive that, But all her beleifs are close to her beleivings to christianity. I dont beleive in that religion but, I beleive alot of her views. I just dont know. I dont know if this makes any sense to you all, I dont know if anyone here read any of her books and if you feel the same way as me.

I believe she has been gearing her teachings for a mass audience. To reach them, she had to use terms that most people could grasp. Since most people in America believe in some version of Christianity, she went with that.
The Mystical side of Christianity has always been around, since that religion got started, but most of that had to be underground in Secret Societies, (like Masonry & the Rosicrucians), since the mainstream versions of that religion had been corrupted by power. That happened at the Council of Nicea, where the Mystics in Christianity were excluded by point of sword, most of the Gospels were rejected, and very physically-oriented doctrines were installed in the church.
For example, the Orthodox Jews have always believed in reincarnation, and Jesus, being a Jew, would have known that, & assumed it as the context of what He was teaching. BUT, at the Council of Nicea, that teaching was removed, since if you know that you will reincarnate, then no power on Earth can really have much hold over you... and it was all about having power over people at that point.

Exactly what happens when you leave humans in control of a divine religion. When will these dieties learn?

i think i get whats going on,your basing your own ideas and beliefs from other
peoples opinions and assumtions of what they feel is right and wrong insted of
basing your own beliefs and practices from your own life.
stop doing that, and your confusion will be no more.

You'd think with their combined omnipotence and omniscient and whatever, and the thousand or so years of human stupidity, they would have realised that by now ;) :T
Anyway, wicked_craft, are you trying to ask is it alright to have similar beliefs to Christianity, and still call yourself a Pagan (or whatever)?

All beliefs are valid. Only you can know what is right for you. I know many pagans, including myself, that still hold onto some part of Judeo-Christian belief (usually in a more mytic/esoteric sense though than the beliefs of the mainstream Christian church). Your own path must be guided by your own heart and mind. And your path may change over time, growing as you grow, evolving as you evolve. And that's a good thing, as Martha would say.---shuvanilu

Yes, wicked,it can be confusing, and not just the Christianity part of it. Our gods and goddesses seek us out, same as the philosophies that resonate with each one of us. If something described by Sylvia resonates with you, so be it. No need to fight it because you're pagan and it has a Christian slant to it. If witches and/or pagans fought against whatever and whomever seeks them out, we'd ALL be crazy.
You say that part of you believes it and you don't understand. That is the magic,if you will, and nature of beliefs, they can't be understood. Either one believes, or they don't. Otherwise, we'd have to call them something different:hugz:

For example, my family is Scottish, Irish, and Welsh, so you'd think a Celtic goddess would be the first to come to me-Maeve, the Morrigan, Rhiannon, Schathach, and so on. But no. Out of the clear blue it was Oya, an orisha. I did'nt fight the fact or be disappointed that the first to acknowledge me was'nt one of "my own kind"......

Yah, Thanks so much, This really helped me out. Thanks Agian

The more you learn about the mysiticism of any religion, the closer they all become. What is inherant remains inherant regardless of the filters.
I suggests reading books buy...
