A recent thread on timing has me thinking of the old adage "there's a time and place for everything."
Merc Rx is the time to return to work on something we've previously been dealing with.

Merc Rx may not a good time to sign new contracts or make a speech to strangers, but it is an excellent time to return to the source and reconnect with spirit. Attend to inner details, settle old accounts, and rethink priorities during a Merc Rx.

When Mercury goes Direct, we can take those thoughts, ideas, feelings and connections and move forward with them to create and adapt out future desires.

It's a useful thing to have a merc Rx calendar to keep on hand for
those of us looking for the right time to return to a former project
and complete it, get back to a friend we've lost contact with

I have a few questions about Merc. Retro.

First of all..would you say a mercury retrograde may be more difficult on a Gemini, than on other birth sighns, being that a Gemini is governed by Mercury?

Secondly, I've been doing family tree research for more than a year. And recently got a breakthrough. A number for long lost relatives (actually, cousins of my Dads), in Ireland. And..I called them today. It was a very difficult conversation, as neither of us seemed to really have the details all written down, ahead of time, and the woman's accent was very difficult for me to understand. And I suppose, she had a difficult time understanding me, too.

However, you mentioned that Merc is a good time to reestablish contact with people you'd lost touch with.

In this situation, since these people are Family, however, we'd never met them...would Merc Retro be a helpful thing, or create more problems for us?

Intuitively I would say that your discussion with family is a good move. Making bridges is fulfilling in the effort and process that goes into the weaving of relationship.The Moon is transiting the sign of Gemini today and this makes for a wonderful time to make contact with ones roots.
As Mercury rules Gemini's, those born with Sun in this sign are more accustomed and in touch with mercurial energies, be them retrograde or direct. The way to know the strength and extent of personal effect is to look back at those times of mercury retrograde and compare what occurred internally and externally in one's life.
How do you feel about contacting your kin?
Do you find it to be a good thing?
It's helpful to keep a journal that one can look back on and compare to a planetary ephemeris. You've experienced events and reacted to them for an important reason and this free will allows answers to be found in self :)

I'm a Gemini Rising with Merc Rx in my natal...oddly enough it doesn't seem to effect me all that much when merc goes retro, but I can't stop all the machines at work from going haywire! :lol:
