I am a solitary practitioner. As you know, most rituals invlove a coven....., and I do not know many other pagans where i live, and also I keep my paganism secret, plus i like to work alone, it's the way i am....But I was wondering if there were other solitaries I could communicate with, share rituals, etc. Even books to reccomend, and web pages, etc...anything...

Only Coven rituals require a coven...

Anyone can perform a ritual at any time. When I get up in the morning and make a pot of coffee, because I do it the same way each time, and I have a specific way to do it, this can be considered a ritual.

Magick is what you make of it. You do NOT need to rely on others to practice it. Your spirituality should be expressed in any way you choose to do so.

May You Live True

MM, Raven's Eye. We are Solitaries too and loving it. Sometimes there are two of us, sometimes one by him/herself and sometimes many of us. The numbers don't matter, the love, power and feeling that you put into whatever you do as ritual is what matters. The beauty of being a Solitary is that you don't need anyone else to tell you how to relate to the Goddess and/or Horned one. We do use a lot of Cunningham's works, but modified quite a bit.
Good luck on your path and Bright Blessings.

Welcome to the Community! Actually, in my opinion, this is a great place for a solitary to learn about the Craft. All you need to do is ask a question and someone I am sure can help you.

I am glad you joined us...and I hope we can help you on your Path.

Love and Light.

I prefer to practice solitary as well. I've developed my own path and system of beliefs over years, and this system works just for me. I don't expect it to work or be for anyone else, therefore, why would the rituals I use be or involve anyone else? I actually find it more of a battle of wills when you get too many people performing a ritual, as no one has the same EXACT reason for doing it...it muddies the energy and the effect isn't half what it could have been if one person had done it. IMHO, of course.

So, basically I'm solitary because no one else practices what I do, and because idividualism ruins group rituals. I need to learn to be more concise like that...

Here's my two cents ...

I am the Elder HPs of our group ~ most of you know that by now. K. I have my group work and all that circles around that, and I have my personal work. Let me just say that I know that learning takes place in your solitary work and solitary ritual ~ in absolutely everythig you do alone. Workign with a group is fine and dandy ~ and beautiful and rewarding and is a learning experience. But each person is just that, an individual. We all learn at our in pace in our own way.

I learned my tradition from a man who lived an hour away from me; we had very limited contact. When he was no longer able to teach me, he passed me on to a former student of his, who was 3500 miles away from me. I had no choice but to learn as a solitary. Now, I did end up spending two months with the second teacher in order to get that Third Degree, but that was for a totally hands-on intensive.

But ~ as I was/am learning my Path, I have also been learning MYSELF and strenthening/learning my individuality. One of the most important things a person can learn is this: Even though we're all made up of the same stuff, we're all very much unique.

Hi Krissy
I just experienced my first Full Moon Ritual .
I am also a solitary practitioner and VERY new at this. I am amazed at the "connectedness" with the Spirits along this new Path. you may communicate with me here or directly at snappyglitz@aol.com

Blessed Be!

It's really great to hear this from a HP, Mairwen. I've run into so many groups that are so against solitary work to threaten to disband members who partook in it. They had to be in control of every step that each member took and where the stepped and how they did it. It seemed insane to me, because you're right...everyone learns and grows different. Period.

Well, look at it this way...to be part of group..you must seek it out or be seeked out. But you are a solitary by very nature. I, myself, am a solitary. Even though my wife and I practice together...we pretty much learned..alone.

I see the Self as the Greatest Teacher of All.

******
And by mirrors and lakes we see,
The fire inside of me,
but who is we but me,
not One of Two, but Three.
Aum.
*******

Blessings.

I could actually feel my hair standing on end when I read this. I wish I could say that I don't believe it ~ but unfortunately, I know that it's the truth. :-( What a shame.
