Ok so the weekly topics are a great place for everyone to share their thoughts or questions on a certain topic about divination. Hopefully we can learn or share something new for ourselves or others.
This week:
Most everyone has or will screw up with their divination tools. Leave them someplace you didn't mean to. Not trust them, and ask over and over. Let someone else use them that does something not great. There are MANY examples.
This week let us know how you make it right. What do you do, to get back on the right track with your divination tools?
If you have a suggestion for a weekly Divination topic, please PM me.

I would really like to hear everyone's point of view on this subject. I haven't exactly gone down the right road with my pendulum

laughs i am less surprised that there are no answers yet
many people like to think well i didnt really screw up so it is ok
many like to think they are my tools so what ever i do with them is ok
and many just dont know and are afraid to admit it
(big ((hugs)) to cristelle for her honesty)
so a few basics to get it started
first of all you need to basically apologise, the reality is when you dont have full integrity with the tools you use, they will not work well for you
second a cleansing or a re-energising is good
and lastly a good thing to do is go back to square one with it/them, and start the relationship over

I think this is related...
Sometimes I've read my tarot cards for others or myself beyond my energy, and have a bit of a headache. Or how I started my card spread and interpreted the question isn't working...I may feel unfocused and may be pulling too many cards to make 'sense.' So I need to set the question and decks aside. I sometimes will air the cards and re-energize and ground myself in separate ways...
The cards: put in a light gauze bag on a shady porch. It really can go back in the bag, if I like, but I want to remind myself that I want to pick up the cards again within a day or so. But I need a fresh perspective.
I don't need to read on the question right away--I can write a bit in a journal, go for a walk, workout, scrub or clean something for awhile--anything that involves physical activity or constructive energy. Once I finish a physical task, I have moved into 'resolving' and constructive energy.
If I think my mental and imaginative eyes need to have inspiration, I can do something restful, such as taking a moment or two in the backyard or at a park to look at the sky.

Given a little time, my mind might have come up with an interesting new perspective or answer on it's own...or I will decide to use another deck or use the deck that I originally tried to obtain ideas and inspiration. And in the second time, I'll likely be a little more careful in how I think of the question, perhaps set up some music to soothe the atmosphere, arrange the cards with a little more focus, etc...generally that works and I'm not feeling so tired or frustrated as in the original scenario.
I hope the suggestions and thoughts are helpful in terms of using cards or divination tools or trying to think of solutions and inspiration...this helps me to put things in perspective and the combination of 'airing', contemplation and a new mindset helps put me in the mood to resolve the original question.

Sometimes, I ask the same thing too many times. Or I drop a card on the floor under the desk and don't notice for a while that it's missing. When that happens, my cards get out of sorts. They start giving me nonsense answers. I know it sounds dumb, but I apologize to them and then put back in their box, place the box in a bowl and cover it with salt. After they sit overnight, the energy is a lot more positive and they give straight answers again.

Nope doesnt sound dumb at all, if you have a relationship with your tools.
and yes i think what you said (Cerulean_damselfly) applies very much
VERY often the problem is in getting our OWN energy clear and straight

I usually don't think of my divination tools (primarily tarot cards, but I have a rune set) as having any energy or personality of their own. So, I don't have to worry too much about "making anything right" with them.
I have on occasion used incense or used sage to smudge my tools. I usually carry at least one deck around with me and I have found that I like to carry my runes in a pocket if I plan on using them alot. I carry the cards in case anyone should need a reading, but I think it takes me a while to get used the IDEA of using runes, so the rattling in my pocket helps. *shrug*
If I were to cleanse my cards I would probably start by shuffling them alot, reiki, then trying smudging or salt. If none of those worked I would try to cleanse them with reiki as best I could and then probably trade them to someone who might be able to use them more than I.
