I have a husband, but unfortunately, not a sweetie. He always gets me some cheesy, random card or a box of generic chocolates. If I had a sweetie, I'd like him to use his imagination and do something that would touch my soul.

I dunno what my b/f and I are going to do this year. It will be our first Valentine's Day together, and if I'm not mistaken, Valentine's Day lands 4 or 5 days from our 3 month anniversary. :) *sigh of happiness* hehehehe.

Darn, I just popped in here to see if Mol had replied yet. I will sneak back out and wait for his reply. SSSHHHHHH!!! I was never here!

I just realized how selfish my last thread was - it's NOT always about me--It's NOT! Just because my marriage is...well...not on the rocks, more like it has crashed into the rocks and its bottom is being ripped out, but that's another story. When I was still in love with my husband, and really trying to make our marriage work, I used to give him coupons for Valentine's Day. The coupons would be redeemable for SPECIAL GIFTS. I always made sure they had expiration dates. He used to really like those.

I'm going to cook a really nice Valentines day Dinner....and then, for dessert, I'm going to make Chocolate Fondu' (sp?), and dip strawberries in it, and we'll have white wine to go with the Chocolate covered strawberries :)

My lady love very much enjoys pleasant surprises and sentimental things that border on the maudlin. So, there will be a soapy card waiting for her awakening (I always have her coffee ready for her), a lightly amusing card and flowers waiting for her at work; another funny card waiting at the table when she comes home for lunch; a romantic card in her chair when she arrives home for the day and a huge, large, monster of a lovie dovie card on her pillow that night.
Oh, I'll also make her favorite spagetti dinner, even though I can't eat tomato sauce.
Not too bad for a 4 times married old witch, huh?:hearteyes

My husband and I don't really "celebrate" Valentines Day. Luckily we both feel the same about it. That it's an excuse to say and do the things you should be saying and doing on a regular basis. Maybe we will feel differently after we've been married longer. My birthday is very near 2/14, we celebrate that with more gusto. Believe it or not, we're actually very lovey-dovey. We do get cheesy hearts-day stuff for his daughter, though. ;)

Wanna give some lessons to my Hubby, Seeker???? LOL. He could use some. Last year, he didn't do anything for valentines day for me, and saw that I was kind of dissappointed (i'd cooked him a romantic candlelight dinner, and made him some homemade valentines, and bought him a candy heart), and wound up running out at like, eight o'clock at night, and bought me a whitmans sampler...lol.

I took the chocolate...but...I told him I was still dissappointed. LOL.

We don't really celebrate holidays like valentine's day, easter, or our birthdays, etc. between us, tho we visit my parents and my mom always has treats for us. :)

I don't know whats I'm doing to do for my Sweetie for Valentines day. But our one-year anniversary falls a few days before Valentines day. For that we're going up to the Ski hill for the weekend.

I will be attempting to pretend that the holiday doesn't exist as I seem to have a sign on my forehead that says: "Attention Losers, I'm available. Decent guys need not apply" and I can't get it off!!! So i plan to crawl into a hole somewhere until the whole holiday is over............ Anybody wanna join me????

I have two sweeties who I will be taking care of on Valentines.

My daughter and I will probably make a really cheesy pink, red, and white Valentines Day card for Daddy. I'll let her help me make a cake, just for her, and we'll play games together and have lots of mommy-daughter time. I"m also collecting rose petals to make her a rose petal bead necklace.

Husband and I don't typically celebrate Valentines, but I think we are this year, because we're both excited about the new baby and want to celebrate that more than anything. We'll take K to the all night baby center that she loves so much and we'll go see a movie, have a quiet dinner and feed each other choclate mousse. Hey, when you're married, pregnant, and have a 3 year old that's baout as romantic as it gets :)

YES! That is my situation too! My hubby is a great guy but there is never a time when he gets me something special without my actually picking it out! Even then he still does not get it right all the time!

For him I always give him a nice massage then....

;) :D

I don't know! And I guess this means I'd better start dropping hints :D

Seriously, we don't do too much for V Day. I'll probably make a nice dinner or something along those lines. But gifts wise- we need the money elsewhere. We will get something small for the kids, but that will be it.

 That's too funny! Sounds like our hubbies can be twins! I usually make a card for both hubby & son & tuck them into their lunches. We don't really do much other than that. Try not to buy into the commercialism of things like that.

I'm getting those cool little heart candies that taste delicious. I love them. The holiday would be lacking without them. With my sweetie tho? Prolly going out to see a movie, than going to one or the others house, depending on if our parents are home ;) ;) :D

I am feeding the kids early tucking them into bed at 8 and then a candle light dinner before he goes to work. He works the graveyard shift.:( We try to have nice surprise dinners from time to time and do nice things for each other all year. Sometimes I get woken up to a bag of Milano cookies because he knows I like them. He's a sweetie. :)

I don't have anyone special to spend V Day with. Though I wish it were warm here that way I could go to my favorite spot in the park, and lay on my back looking up at the white clouds and daydream some.... *Sigh*, that would be nice.

GingerBurkley

I love Milanos too. Especially the mint ones. The plain ones are okay and the orange ones would do in a pinch, but I love the mint ones.

In my personal opinion, Valentine's Day is highly overrated. I'm not saying that because of sour grapes, either, it so happens that my boyfriend and my 8 month anniversary falls 5 days before...so its not because I'm single and bitter. Maybe its because I WAS single and bitter every other Valentine's Day of my life, but if that were the case, one would think I'd be ecstatic this year. Truth is, I don't care if he does anything...I mean, I'll get him a card or something if I can get to the store between now and then, but if not I'm not planning on bothering. Not to mention, it falls during the week this year (as it does most years, LOL) and because we go to different schools we only tend to see each other on weekends and on a rare occasion once during the week anyway.

So, in short, nothing...just maybe a card.

Me and my "sweetie" both agree that this day is only for those who
don't say or do "lovey" :heartthro things on a daily basis. we stay away from
crowded restaurants and other places and just cook a nice meal together at home.

St. Valentine's day takes its roots from the church... but it's more of a secular celebration.

Think of it as a warm-up for beltane.

Well, I don't like V-Day anyway. It goes from a long time back. I'm a sucker for holidays and was ALWAYS disappointed on 2/14. Eshallet knows I hate it too. Plus, like Laiste & Chris, unless I physically point it out, he doesn't have a clue.

Last year, I made tiny heart cut outs with all kinds of little sayings on them, and put them all over the place. His shoes, his coat pocket, his wallet, etc....Eshallet liked them, said it was nice and then asked how many more were there. I swear, sometimes I think Romance is lost on this man.

Things have been a little bumpy here, nothing terrifying, just not the smooth road, but then again, life would be boring without the ups and downs right? So, because of the rocky road we've been on and on top of the fact that he KNOWS i really dislike this holiday, he's making an attempt....he asked me where I'd like to go to dinner and I could pick any place I wanted. So we're going to the Japanese restaurant nearby. Laiste & Chris, I bet you know the one. Mt. Fujii, the one that's up on the hill that overlooks I-87. For all of you who don't live here, it's a Gasho, i believe they are a chain, and it overlooks the mtn. opposite and at night, it's a nice view. I'm just happy we get to go somewhere different and there's no chicken parm (little joke we have. )

I'm thinking I may do the heart thingy again. I found some new sayings, but I haven't decided. I want to do something nice for him, because he really is a wonderful person and I do tell him that, I just don't think I do often enough. Maybe I'll do the homemade coupon thing. hmmmm.....that's a good idea....

Mt Fuji? I have never been there but I have heard it is really wonderful. Good food, lots of atmosphere and all. And I don't know if it is true but local legend says it was built without any nails.

And it is only about 15 minutes from me. So close and yet I sitll haven't gotten to meet you. :D

...to get bucket loads of valentines cards... because this is the first year in YONKS that I don't have anyone to send one to.. OK, I'm living in a fantasy world here...

I would, given half the chance, make a valentine card for a special someone, then cook them a wonderful meal, and end up by snuggling up on the sofa for the evening. *sigh*

My plans include throwing darts at the ex while amusing him on the phone. Bitterly reading out loud V-Day cards was also a goal for that day.

I honestly have no clue what Radocs and I are doing for Valentine's Day. I've always hated the holiday. From the time I was in elementary school and had to give Valentine's cards to everyone in my class, staying up pretty late and just signing my name over and over and over...I just hate the holiday. As long as I know I'm loved (and I do!!!), I'm happy. Presents, kisses, and hugs are not unknown to me all year round. *sighs happily*

Our one year anniversary is on February 5, though, and I'm more concerned with that day. Especially since it falls on senior skip day (a day in my school when all the seniors skip school and the teachers seem to turn a blind eye) and I'm not going to school. :) I want to do something!
