Hi everybody--

I have astrological questions in two related parts, sort of. I just turned 24, but I feel like I'm experiencing the symptoms of a Saturn return. I'm suddenly bombarbed by nightmares about my father and all sorts of paternal issues. Along with that, I'm not unhappy but I really want a partner in my life. I'm not saying that I want to settle down or any of that, but it seems like I can't even find anyone with whom I can have fun, passion, good conversation, and respect. I feel like ridiculous sitcom-esque things keep coming up that keep me away from potential partners right now. While I realize that this time is good for personal growth and freedom to have my own experiences and projects, I'm also ready for that to end. Or just to have an experience that restores my faith in the belief that good, fun connections are still possible.

So, is there any sort of Saturnine thing that could be hitting me now?

Also, is anybody out there good at helping predict roughly when things will look up? At least if I can anticipate things getting better, that will help.

My birth data information if anyone needs it:
April 2, 1982, 12:01 P.M.
in Blacksburg, VA, US (Montgomery County)

Sun in Aries, Moon in Leo, Cancer rising

While you are too young for a Saturn Return (usually between the ages of 28-30) you DO have some Saturnine things going on.

Saturn is currently in Leo (unlike your natal placement of Libra) and is moving through your first house. Since the 1st represents your Self and how you present yourself to others, Saturn in the first usually puts a serious crimp in your style. Anytime a planet crosses over your AC into the 1st house it is the ending of one cycle and the beginning of another. Saturn is also crossing right over the top of your natal Moon right now, which is another jab. Moon = emotions and Saturn = limits, change, growth, therefore it's time to let go of those old emotional patterns which have prevented you from expressing your true self. Of course this process is not without it's share of physical or emotional pain (no one likes having to go through this kind of stuff), so you can expect to be very sensitive for a little while. Everything related to your old, outgrown patterns will hurt and you may feel like the world is against you. Introspection is the word of the day, and you can expect to spend your time pondering childhood memories and relationships, particularly with your parents (another incarnation of Saturn). Although this can be a painful process, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Make sure you put the time in to take care of yourself too!

This can be a very difficult time, for circumstances seem to block your moves at every turn, leading to frustration and wondering if you'll ever get out of "this mess." This marks a major life change. It is the end of an interest in the outward and social world and the start of a more inward journey during which you absorb and take in new information. Letting go of past success is a necessity. Now you begin to move upward and outward. Go for it! Expect a number of very successful years (once Satrun moves past your Moon) are coming now. A lot is happening so be prepared!

I have found that the first Saturn return, while in full force between 27/28 and 30 usually DOES begin to have an effect around the age of 24 or 25. My personal feeling is that this is because of the giant leap that accompanies the Jupiter return at the same age. Jupiter's expansiveness often causes a person to feel the need to make a change - and accepting change and limitations is a part of what the Saturn return is all about.

Neat! Thanks very much to both of you for your insight! This helps a lot and seems to describe things perfectly.

I've also learned that I just had a Venus return, which I think explains a lot of things as well. This makes me feel better. The time isn't bad right now; it's just taking a lot of energy to transform.
