Just wondering how you're relating these to time? Like, are you assuming someone who works full time works 40 hours a week exactly, someone who works part-time 20 hours a week exactly, etc.? And how about students?

This poll is totally biased! :p
WHy isn't there an option for "Don't work" instead of "Out of work"? I"m not out of work--I don't work because I dont want to!

I work and work hard. I just don't get paid. (Unless you count chocolate cookie flavored kisses from a 5 and 3 yo!!);)
Chris~has a horrible headache today and was wishing I could take the afternoon off....

How are you defining work? I voted part time because I am paid for a 20 hour a week post. However, I am a lone parent ( anyone care to argue that isn't work?) and several hours a week voluntary work.

January 25th, 2002, 03:31 PM
I'm a student. Thats about ... hmm, 7:40 - 2:10 every day, so i guess I "work" 32 and a half hour every week. I guess thats not to bad. And alot of free time, but not alot of posts. So i guess there really isn't. I think its more what you're interested in.

January 25th, 2002, 03:33 PM
I work full time and this time next week I will also be a part-time student
your poll is biased against multiple-goaled individuals. I'm gonna sue!!!

Twelve-hour shifts. Four days on duty, four off. Which gives me four days out of eight to sit goggle-eyed & drooling in front of Solomon (anyone else name their p.c.?) surfing & posting (& four days to wish I was...):rotfl:

How about, "I'm just finishing up college and no job is going to let me work around my school hours, and I'm not qualified to get the job in the field I want and yet too qualified for every other job"..

I think that means you're just out of work. :p
No, I'm kidding.
Actually, I think the poll is interesting in the way its worded, and some of the responses here. I think it reveals a lot of ideas we have about "work".
In the most traditional sense, I don't work. But I am a writer, and I do write from home--does that count? Except I don't have a set schedule, and I write because I want to. Is that work? And I'm forced to clean up my house when i dont wnat to, but I dont get paid for it. IS that work?

It would be hard to do a poll that would cover everyone's situations. You'll be looking at 150+ permutations here.
I work 30 hours outside of my home. I sit in front of a computer all day & I have internet access here. :p Right now, it's not too busy. In a couple of weeks, I'll be going through bad withdrawl symptoms.

I'm retired and I work harder taking care of my family and my animals and my plants and my garden ( there is a difference there) than I ever did when I ''worked". There is a direct corelation in the weather and how much I post.

I'm an art student, and believe me, that is a full time job! Last semester I had a 96 hour "work" week. I wasn't being paid money, I was "being paid in experience." :bigredgri
I don't think what you do has much to do with the time you spend here. After all, distractions are a beautiful thing. ;)

I'm with Kay...I'm an addict. I work 35.5 hours at my job (according to my pay stub), which I receive a salary for 5 days a week. Then, come home, take care of my family, drive my son here & there. Help Eshallet out with his mom, feed the animals, clean, etc. you get the picture.
Plus, I help out here and a few other sites on theweb, though granted I don't work as hard on-line as Mol, Kay, Myst or a few others.
I'll admit...I'm addict and a lot of the time stuff doesn't get done around here because I'm bumming around MW.

Okay how about two full time jobs. I work at my paying job 35 - 37.5 hours a week and run around after two kids when I'm not studying for school. All that and I still have time to bum around the boards on a daily basis. :p
I'm looking forward to going to school full time in July though. Finally a break. :D

I didn't vote because I didn't see anything that fit. I'm a full-time parent of three kids, and have nothing but free time cuz I don't work LOL I think that some people think that work equals paid work, and that this doesn't qualify as work. They ought to try it sometime. :-)

I'm out of work and don't plan on going back anytime soon. I don't consider being the Domestic Goddess that I am "work". To me work is a four letter word that you don't really enjoy. Or that takes some sort of extra effort. Housework and taking care of my family are things I enjoy. (I know... Housework? - Yuck!) I'm just weird that way. Luckily my husband has a job he enjoys that alows me to not have to work. :p

My wife and I both work full time and we both attend college part time. We have five daughters ranging in age from 5-17, and they have their activites that we have to juggle into our schedual also. But once we have all of our time needs worked out (at the beginning of each semester) things run pretty smoothly. We also rely on friends and family to occasionally schuttle our grils around.
Blessed Be,

Hard poll....I have been laid off since June of 2001....but as you can see from my posts, have been very busy doing NOTHING!
I find I have more time to post and communicate through MW when I am "BUSY" working 50 hours/week....lol
go figure:D

My computer has no name.
As to work, I'm an oddity. I'm an actress, and not surprisingly, also wait tables at the dinner theatre I perform at a lot, plus at a local sports bar on occasion. So I work full time, but weird hours.
