But then again, maybe I am. I was so happy earlier today, then my husband and my next door neighbor were in a shouting match and my neighbors are screaming at us, calling us liars, and now I'm not so happy anymore. Feel sorry for me.

Repeat after me...
"Om Mani Padme Hum
Peace, I'm gonna get me some..."
Ducks and water, babe. 'Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me...'

Manic depressives shift moods for no reason. If you have valid reasons for feeling happy and sad both in the same day, then you are not necessarily crazy!

is when you get really happy for no apparent reason and then really depressed for no apparent reason. I guess I'll just say I'm on an emotional rollercoaster - but I don't do rollercoasters, so I HATE THIS

Actually apparently there's two types of bipolar disorder and one of them is often termed manic depressive.

I thought bipolar was when you get really up. boundless energy, lack of sleep and everything has to be done right away. This is followed by periods of endless sleep a total lack of energy and an overwhelming feeling of uselessness. :eyebrow:

From what my doctor told me, and from what the lil booklet says with my medication starter pack...
"the root cause of Depression and/bipolar conditions is in fact a medical condition brought on by an imbalance of chemicals tin the brain called Serotonin, they are "Neurotransmitters" sounds high tech huh? but what they do is carry messages between the brain cells..."
:o
I think that mabey...
the brain controlls everything we do, feel, say, etc... some things happen "behind the scenes" and the things we do have control over are really based on perception of the behind the scenes things that the brain does..
depression is not being sad, its not being irratable, those are some of feelings we experience ...and there are more symptoms, compulseiveness, etc... When a person says "I am depressed" I tend to get irritated because they have a misconception of what depression is, and so right away just cause they are Sad, they say they are depressed...
If they get sad for no reason, or are irratable or develop mood shifts, THEN they may be DEPRESSED ....
