Do you use poppets?

And if you do, do you find your spells are as powerful as if you had a "piece" of the object of your spell?

I've never used poppets, myself. I've been interested by them...but..never have really used them. I think the closest I got, was buying one of those candles that is shaped like a man, or woman (I got the woman shaped one), to do a weight-loss spell...to give me the willpower to lose weight. I pictured the pounds falling off me, as the wax dripped away. I did lose weight around that time, so I guess it did work to give me the willpower to continue on :)

I often try to contain a piece, or representation of whatever or whomever the spell is for/about, when I do my spells, but that's not always possible. Sometimes, if I'm asking for help for a specific person, with their permission, I will write their name on a piece of paper, and do something with that.

For instance, if I'm doing a protection spell, putting their name in a clay pot, and pouring salt (which is highly protective, to me), over it...burying it in it.

Or, if I'm doing a spell to heal someones broken heart, I've written the persons name on a piece of paper, and then wrapped pink ribbon around it, over and over, while reciting a spell. Things like that, i've definately done, and they've worked pretty well:)

I use them, but they are always of myself so I always have everything I need. I have never used one of someone else. I do find that the spells I do with poppets are the most powerful and successful spells I use.

Someone used one on me once. With my approval, of course. He actually added to the stuffing inside: a "piece of me" (lock of hair) and a cut-out pic of me. It was a rather effective healing spell for a cancer scare. Since then, my only experiences with a poppet include a "piece of my object," usually me. :)

Yes, I find poppets are very powerful magic. You have to be really, really, really careful with them. One point to remember is think about what you want done with the poppet AFTER the spell BEFORE you do the spell. And also, think EVERYTHING through super carefully before you start. Make sure you cover all your bases. Especially with poppets that you're putting a piece of yourself or someone else into.
