If you are interested in this period, you might like to look out for a book called "The Way Of Wyrd" by Brian Bates. It is out of print but worth trying to find a second hand copy. Although it is presented as fiction, it is in fact the result of extensive research into anglo-saxon shamanism - which the author is a professor of.

I actually think I had a copy of that once....I don't anymoe. I'll have to check in the bookstore, and see if that's the one I had. Thanks for the suggestion :)
