Got my cards today!!

I got my Tarot cards in the mail today. I repurchased The Gilded Tarot (which I had thrown out -- I know, I know -- after freaking out that I was making a huge mistake with Christian witchcraft). The cards are so beautiful, and I love the stories they tell.

I also got Tarot of the Saints, because I really liked that one too! It has a saint for each card, and includes Jesus as well. The booklet also gives the story behind each saint's life as well as the card meaning, which I love.

I can't wait to start using them. Any suggestions for a newbie Tarot user?

do some searching on here for "new tarot" and you'll find TONS of advice. The most important bit of advice is probably: Journal, journal, journal! Write down your impressions of the cards and each reading that you do. You'll find it invaluable to look back later and see how your ideas have changed.

The 2nd most important bit of advice (IMHO) is Keep It Simple. Don't start out trying to do 10 card spreads and making yourself nuts. Keep it small. One card a day for getting familiar with them. And if you're doing a reading, try to keep it down to 3 cards. Past, Present, Future. Goal, Obstacle, Advice. Things like that.

Try to think of tarot spreads as a story. Relate each card to the position meaning and then to the question and it'll be easier to make sense of them.
