I got this from a mailing list I'm on and thought people might be interested:

You may of seen my post for design support for HelpinDisaster.org, a
new website that helps citizens register to volunteer during disaster

Even more importantly, we need your help in spreading the word by
forwarding this email, or posting a link to www.HelpinDisaster.org on
your personal or business website.

This website is directly supporting volunteer managers throughout FL,
MS, AL, LA and TX, and the need for volunteers to help those areas
recover is greater than ever!

Just last week, I received this email:

"As many of you are probably aware of, St. Bernard was one of the
areas most severely damaged by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. What a
lot of people don't know, however, is that this community still
desperately needs your help. Eight months after the disaster, the
Parish still looks like a war zone and residents are either living in
trailers or have not returned home yet. These people need help now
more than ever.... "

Volunteers interested in helping can register their skills,
availability, and williness to travel in HelpinDisaster.org, and they
will be contacted and deployed based on the local need.

Powered by 1-800-Volunteer.org, www.HelpinDisaster.org is the only
national Web site available to the entire disaster volunteer
management community so they can find reach volunteers with skills
that match the local need. Volunteer information is secure, and their
personal information is only shared when the volunteer accepts a job
assignment ensuring that volunteers with critical skills can be
connected to urgent community needs.

www.HelpinDisaster.org officially launched this Sunday, to coincide
with National Hurricane Preparedness Week, May 21-27.

Please spread the word, and if you have any questions or would like to
support our work, feel free to contact me at kwatier@pointsoflight.org.

On behalf of all in the gulf who still need your help,
Thank you!
