I am curious to know what people think about those who are natural healers, and don't have any training such as reiki etc. I know I am able to do energy healing which is akin to Reiki but have never had any training in that area.

I've been an empath and healer since I was young, and followed that into developing remedial massage skill to enhance the work I can do.
I think that if some people are born with an obvious gift of some sort, they should nurture it and work with it. I worked against mine for years and was never happy in life, and something was always out of place until I gave in and returned to it.

Thank you,
I can't wait to hear what others have to say.

I can do natural healing, and for me, it goes hand in hand with my empathy. I can feel and sense strong energy sources and link into weaker areas.
I believe that there are a lot of people with the natural gift of healing, and most work in all health care systems.

Some of the most amazing spiritual or energetic healing stories I've heard are healings that were accomplished through a natural, untrained healer - someone with "a gift". And I'm referring to stories that have the ring of truth and do not sound made up or delusional.
I myself showed only a very limited aptitude for healing, and what experience I had with it seemed connected with my yoga-meditation practices. Reiki attunement made a very big difference for me, startig me on a new chapter in many ways.
In the last six years, I've met with, talked with, and cyber-dialogued with many healers, some of them natural gifted healers. Some have said that they've long known they had a true gift, but when they got attuned to Reiki they did not get exhausted when they gave a powerful healing session, or that their healing gift become more predictably on-tap for them, or that their everyday energy became mellower and less erratic... things like that.
But having said the above, I'll just say I'm not a person to get stuck on "brand names"... I can relate what Reiki has done for me, but that doesn't exclude or diminish what other people experience.

I know how you feel. For most of my life I tried to ignore that part of my life and focus on other things. But, there seemed to be something I was missing. When I got back to the healing arts things seemed to fall into place.

Well I try to heal people as often as I can if they want me too.I think it was something I developed more than I was born with. What I do is I close my eyes and say a prayer to the Creator over and over again until it becomes like a mantra. Then I'll place my hands on the person still praying. The top of my head and palms will heat up,I keep doing this until I feel my hands and head cool down again. Then I'll thank God and ask how the person feels and they are always better.
But those who are born with it,defenitely awsome.

I have always been able to speed up my own healing and sense hurts in others and heal them to some degree (not sure how effective).
I decided to get attuned with reiki I&II but it has not really made a difference for me except more awareness of the energy from my hands.
I do believe natural healing ability exists. Whether or not it is an extension of our body's natural ability I do not know. I have been able to close deep cuts though within a few hours before for myself, so I know if anything else, at least it works on myself.
PS, I experience something similar to what CleftofLight described. My hands get hot when I do healing. I sense damaged areas as cold spots relative to my hands.
For me though, it is not enough to hover over the area, it is usually more effective for me to touch.

I began doing Massage in 1970.

Since I began studying Occultism in 1967, (San Francisco, Summer of Love), it wasn't long before I was combining energy work along with the Massage. I look into a body through my fingers, and where there are blockages I release them at the neural level. This stimulates the Cranial Sacral system, which allows the person to continue the healing long after the actual treatment.
I favor Myofascial & Deep Tissue approaches, because these address the core, rather than the surface. Swedish works only the surface muscles, and while it feels good, it doesn't reach the core muscles, where you find most of the real problems.

I have never tried massage ... as such, I usually don't touch the person whom I am working on. When I do work in the physical that is.

I know you're just new here, but we're not generally a shy bunch... and you shouldn't be either. ;)
I started a thread recently, in this forum, for sharing healing stories. Care to talk about any of the situations in which you've worked on someone and they healed?
Please do (tell) ...
