What "Clique" were you most often categorized by others in?
Geeks
Nerds
Burnouts
Jocks
Cool kids,
Thugs?
Those types of things? I really didn't fit into any of these. Guess my term would have been "loner" or...outsider. I suppose. Maybe..Wierdo?
LOL.

I would have to say Burnouts although Metal Heads is more like it! Guess the two groups were kinda one!! LOL:smoke:
This reminds me of a line from a Def Leppard song "It's better to burn out than fade away":p

I'm not sure how I managed to graduate.

I went to a small semi-private school. A developmental research school. The school stressed individuality, open-mindedness and inclusion. We only had three catergories:
country
alternative
jock
I was alternative. Most everyone in the "groups" got along with the other groups. You had to really work hard at being a loner, if thats what you wanted to be. Even people that may have been considered geeks at other schools were pretty much one of the three.

I didn't really fit in anywhere much either. I got good grades, knew I was going to college and was taking some honors classes. But I didn't really like the "smart" kids- I always hung out with the "burnouts" in the Scrounge Lounge (smoking lounge that no longer exists). And I was a metal head too. Much to my guidance counselors dismay! LOL

Well, I'm not even in highschool yet, but I go to a small school and a lot of people know who I am but I'm not that popular. Semi-popular, I guess. Which is good enough for me. :)

January 29th, 2002, 09:33 AM
I wasn't really in any catagory. I was seen as popular but didn't hang out with the in crowd. Most of my time was spent helping out in the canteen (we had no real cafeteria) or the library or the physics lab. I am one of the few that miss high school as it was a good time in my life. Now junior high was a totally different story! :)

i would have to say that i didnt fit into any category. everyone knew me and everyone was friendly. We (my sister and i) were inseperable and still are, so if you knew one of us you knew the other. people called us the red twins becuase we have red hair. My freshman year people kept their distance because i was very moody and mean heehee. but then i became nice, except to this kid who was placed in our school named david-ugh i couldnt stand him-he really looked like a weasel and he would try to fight me all the time. dont know why, but he did. so my sister and i were popular but not a main attraction type popular.

I classify myself as a loner, but I think many would consider me a punk/goth/weirdo. I can fit into any group pretty well, though. Hick, geek, jock (to a certain extent), potheads...I get along with them all. I'm in all the "advanced" classes and glee club, so I know all the preppy, smart kids and they all seem to get along with me. I still think I'm a loner.
By the way...I went to a catholic elementary/middle school...I can completely relate. I was weird then, too. ;)

Then, in highschool, smoked a few more ciggarrettes. I didn't drink until I was in college, and then, only a wine cooler or two on weekends when I visited my boyfriends house. And Pot..hahah..didn't try that until I was out of college ;) my vice in highschool was...BOYS!

I was in the "other" category.
I was an under-acheiver (school bored me & I saw no reason to do anything more than I needed to graduate) & a self-proclaimed socialist. I kept making snide comments about the 'bourgeoisie' for two years before someone told me I was pronouncing it wrong.
Oddly enough, there was a (small) group of us future revolutionaries. We weren't hippies, though. We did have a witch among us (not me-I was busy being the next Karla Marx),

I'm currently the shy, quiet type that no one has any great problem with, mainly due to the fact my silence has made me nearly invisible to the human eye, hehe! I don't know, I'm that sort that just drifts in and out of a class without even being detected. I have no close friends as such, but have a small group of equally as shy girls that are just as ... invisible... as myself, and we all seem to fly under the social radar. Hard to explain. You guys know what I mean, right?

In highschool I wasn't in any particular clique . . . had friends in all of them (even the preppies . . . :P). Spent most of my time on my artwork, and then my senior year I worked in Drama, as well. Didn't bother with too much homework (but passed my tests), socialized mostly, and doodled all over my notebooks. Only subjects that really interested me were my art class, psychology, and lunch. Can't believe it's been 8 years since I graduated . . . *sighs* But, on the up-side, I'm glad that's over with! *Whew!* :D

Oh, man... I re-invented myself so much in school.
7th Grade: Total loser. I always made real cheesy jokes and was pretty straight-edged. People were actually shocked the first time I cussed.
8th Grade: Rebel. I started ignoring/fighting with mom, letting my grades suffer, etc. No friends.
9th Grade: A-Hole. I just insulted and poked. It's a wonder I made a girlfriend... Even IF she had already dated the rest of the school ;) She gave me my first kiss, BTW
10th Grade: Cheerful, freaky kid. Half the school loved my upbeat attitude, everyone else was disgusted.
11th Grade: Pot/metal head. I would head bang everytime rock music began playing, and still do. I was always the most active one at concerts.
12th Grade: Um... If I didn't drop out in 11th grade, this would be where I was the burned-out hippy pagan.

I’ve already joined about 4 different crowds and it’s only second semester of freshman year for me. 8O Well, at least I know I’m a likeable person. Or something like that
According to Drew (my buddy, we act like we hate each other but we love each other) I’m a ditzy wussy (and something else to but I forgot), but that’s because I’m short and have brown hair and my name is Colleen. I’m gonna get his girlfriend to beat him up one of these days.
I’m in the:
preppy popular people crowd: I don’t really like them but we were all buddies in elementary school. We were the popular people then too. I dress and act nothing like them but they still talk to me and are nice to me, so whatever.
skater/gothic/punk group: The kids who pretty much have crappy lives and don't care a whole lot about anything. They's good people tho.
theater people: They’re just fun to be with and I end up joining all the theater stuff so I got to know them pretty well. This the group I’ll probably end up with.
my group of random guys: All my buddies, I have almost no girl friends. It’s really sad. They all belong to different groups so they get their own category. I played video games for 5 hours with them last night. And the freakest thing about that was I thought it was fun.

I think guys are more fun to hang out with 75% of the time. They don't gossip, their voices never get annyoing, you can talk about anything (well, almost...), and you can mess around more without people thinking you're bi. But (for me, at least) it takes longer to make a relationship than it is with a girl. Strange.

Maybe its also cause girls at that age tend to be petty. No offence to girls, but the ones at my school are all: "Oh, my boyfriend" "Oh, Jimmy" "Oh, she had sex" "Oh, my hair" "Oh, i'm so hot" "Oh, that kid winked at me" when they should be "Oh, i'm in the 8th grade for the 3rd time". Its annoying.
Most of my friends are girls tho. Prolly cause they some of them tend to share the more serious outlook i have on life, and only a few guys do.

I can't stand the girls in my school for that reason...they're so petty and obsessed with these little things! But I don't really have any close girl friends so I feel like I'm missing out on some great relationships. I have trouble seeing girls as anything but something to pursue romantically. Guys seem to be easier to get along with, but I don't like them much when they're my age, for the same reason I dislike girls my age.
And as for the posts about "when you got started," I had my first kiss at 14, my first time was at 16. I tend to do things when I'm good and ready. I don't believe there's a "too late" for anything.

I have no real clique (i'm STILL in highschool) but the people I hang out with are basically outcasts who get snickered at in the halls. This "group" includes a guy who enjoys wearing dresses, three semi-gothic Pagan lesbians (which IS a big deal at MY school), a midget, and a few unstable nerdy types like me and my boyfriend who most of the school is afraid of. I'd say we're all basically loners who kind of congregate together. Please tell me life gets better after highschool!! These CANNOT be the best years of my life....can they? *whimper*

Most of my school is afraid of me! But thats just the Pagan/crazy combo. And then the fact that i play around with their heads by saying Satan will do stuff to/for them.
