Em Hotep!
I've been contemplating love. **sigh** I know so very unusual for me **rolls eyes**
Anywhoo...
I know that we can most assuredly associate love with Aset. But what about Het Hert and Bast? Both seem... I dunno... It seems very appropriate.
Thoughts... comments?

I associate love with both Aset & Het-Hert! :)

Sebek is love for me, but that might just be because He's just so damn cuddly! He's really very sweet when you get to know Him.
But, I don't think that's quite what you were asking. :)
It depends on the type of love you're talking about as to who I associate with love. Motherly love I'd associate with Aset, HetHert-Sekhmet, Mut, and Bast, in a way. Bast has always felt more sensual/sexual in the love She represents to me than others. I think HetHert's got that sensuality thing as well, but in a different way.
So, yeah. They're my thoughts on the matter. For the moment. I can't say I've really given it much thought.

HetHert is definitely a Goddess associated with Love. Mom too, but it's a different kind of Love.
Aset's the devoted kind of Love. HetHert's Love seems...more...sweet? Can't seem to put it into words. Bast can be the sensual side of love, but She seems to really adore participating in what we enjoy and love more than in helping us out with it. Or at least that's my perspective on it.

There's a kind of paternal love thing going on with Ptah, Amun, Heru-wer, and Ra. If you don't quite get it, attend a Saq Amun sometime, and witness the divine equivelant of "come sit on my knee and tell me what's bothering you" fatherliness. ;)
I also do very much get a sensual feel from Bast, but not really in a sex-sex kind of way; very much the sincere, tender, "I would do anything for you" feel. And of course Heru-sa-Aset and Hethert have that whole "Beautiful Couple" / "Beautiful Reunion" thing going on... if ever there was a Love theme in Kemetic myth, that'd definitely be it!

Some very interesting takes here....
I havn't done much reading on Het-Hert. I did do a quick search though... Is she with Heru-sa-Aset or Heru-Wer?
I'm trying to understand the difference that others are seeing in the love of Het-Hert and Bast. Would Bast be a lust, or romantic?
From Bast I too get the sensuality/sexuality thing... but I'm not sure that the love is part of that, or a seperate part of her. I don't really know how to explain it. LOL

HetHert can be with either Heru. At Edfu, she's with Heru-wer. *happy sigh*
But she heals Heru-sa-Aset and there are stories of her relationship with him too.
On the other hand, Heru-sa-Aset has seven scorpion wives too - it was talked about on the boards recently.
To me, Bast and HetHert are similar. But there are differences too. It's hard to fit into words. Bast is sensual, but not really sexual. HetHert can be sensual, sexual, and more.
Talking and describing the Gods is always hard to do - They don't fit into the boxes that we mortals seem to prefer. ;)

It really only makes sense that Bast and Hethert would "feel" similar. Considering that Hethert 'is' Sekhmet, and Sekhmet & Bast are two forms of the Eye (one had Her original cult in Upper Egypt, the other had Hers in the Lower kingdom). They share an essence. :)
I guess maybe Bast's love really is more maternal. It might be that her inherent strength and protectiveness comes off in a sensual manner, but her love is all about her wee wittle mortal baaabeee. :hahugh:

I've always associated love (romantic and sexual) with Het-heret. The type of love I associate with Aset is more motherly, though she is certianly a devoted wife as well!
That's just the feel I get from them, though. :)
