using the cards to ask about recently departed?

a friend of mine lost someone dear to her,
I have done a reading for her once using the rider wait deck...

she wants to ask questions about this person who recently passed on..

what me do? do I just let her ask? is there a specific spread i should use? a particualar deck?

I actually, had this come up a couple of months back. In my experience the cards didn't work so well, depending on the questions asked. In the times that I have read for someone in this situation the reading reveals major events in that persons life leading up to their death. Use what spread feels right, go with your instincts.

hmmmm ... if it was me ... i would use the mother peace deck ... for obvious reasons (especially surrounding the whirlwind of energy that death/transformation of the physical creates in all the dimensions and realms), and i would use a one card meditation ... especially this close to the event. keeping it focused will help direct the energies created by the death and speak to all levels at one time at great depth than with a multi-card layout. anytime there is death around, its time for depth for it to work its magic in the roots to allow the tree to grow longer, stronger and greater. one card will bring the common thread from the chaotic energy swirling around and help reestablish the new order quickly.

my second deck suggestion would be the medicine cards. a sacred geometry deck would help connect the dimensions that opened as a result of the death (especially if it was a person open to the different dimensions) ... the deck i would use really depends on the person. but, i would definitely stay away from the rider deck altogether whenever it relates to anything of depth like death; i have always found the morals of the rider deck are so suspect.
