Well I've been going through the music that I currently have stored on the computer. Rhyce and I have discussed numerous times, what song it is I will be walking down the isle to, at the moment I'm thinking about "Flames" by VAST. The other is "Flumbling Towards Ecstasy " by Sarah McLachlan.

Here's the lyrics to Flames if you are unfamilar with the band.

close your eyes
let me touch you now
let me give you something that is real
close the door
leave your fears behind
let me give you what you're giving me
you are the only thing
that makes me want to live at all
when i am with you

Looks like a nice song, I don't rember it though.

The one I was hoping at least 1 of my kids would play at there wedding is Metallica's Nothing Else Matters

Let me preface this statement--I do NOT like country music.

Making Memories of Us-Keith Urban

Love the lyrics

I know the song I'm going to walk down the aisle to. Its a classical instrumental piece -- Pachabell's Canon in D.

I am having an issue with choosing a first dance song though... I wanted "Deliver Me" by Sarah Brightman... But now I am debating that with Leaves' Eyes' "Leaves' Eyes" (Yeah the name of the band is the same as the song.. You'd have to know them and listen to their stuff to understand why)... And Madonna's "Nothing Fails"..

Hmp.

Actually scratch that... I decided I will debate Pachabel's Canon in D with Leaves' Eyes' "Ankomst"..

Madonna? No, seriously, Madonna? If Madonna is on the bargaining table, I submit to the discussion "Iowa" by Slipknot. It's a love song, sort of.

A friend of mine once said, when asked what his and his fiance's wedding song would be, said "Hell Awaits, by Slayer." She gave him quite a hard punch in the arm for that one.

I'm not exactly getting married soon, but, if I do ever get married, I want Winter Solstice by The Tea Party played.

Our wedding song wont be about a serial killer's first kill, thank you.

And Madonna rocks so hush you! If Slipknot has a real love song that can be slowdanced to, and that doesnt talk about losing love or depressive love, I might consider it.

hey, i think a Madonna song would be great for a first dance... If/when i ever get married, i want my first dance song to be Crazy for You, by Madonna...
anyways, good luck to everyone trying to pick their wedding music!

Oh yes, Madonna's a good choice, except for her "dance" stuff (i.e. her latest album). Yuck!

Why not the traditional dum dum da dum :T

semi
May 31st, 2006, 10:04 PM
I think the classic dum dum da dum would be cool if it was done only on piano and sort of modified by the pianist. It would be recognizable as "The Brides March," but with fills and trills here and there, maybe occasional breaks in synchopation or something. A new twist on an old standard.

Our wedding song, which I also walked down the isle to was "there you'll be" by Faith Hill. It's the song from the movie pearl harbor.
I also loved the Lyrics.. (Good luck finding your songs!)

Okay Rhyce has informed me that "Flames" by VAST is the song we'll have playing for our first dance ... I'm thinking of something instrumental to walk down the isle too or maybe something else by Sarah McLachlan.

RubyRose - yay for VAST! I always get so excited when I find someone else who likes them. I only know 2 other people who've ever heard of them: one is the person who introduced me to their stuff; the other is a friend who hates their music with a passion. Silly boy.

The song we walked down the hill to (we didn't have an aisle) was a wedding gift from my brother-outlaw. He has Garage Band on his computer, so he created an arrangement of Cake's "Where Would I Be"? (http://www.mp3lyrics.org/c/cake/where-would-i-be/)which is our song. It was perfect. I think we owe him our first-bought child or something now.

We walked back up the hill to Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue." My wife and I both adore the piece, and it was a nice twist on the "something blue."

My husband, the groomsmen, and my bridesmaids walked down the aisle to Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, and I walked down the aisle to Beethoven's Ode to Joy. Our recessional music was the Handel Hallelujah Chorus. *...giggles...* It was done s a joke because so many people, including us, thought we would never marry anyone.

Our first dance was to When I Said I Do, by Clint Black. This is made even funnier when you consider that I HATE Country Music. But the song is beautiful. Here are the lyrics:

The only time I walked down an aisle of sorts, I chose 'Morning Has Broken' by Cat Stevens...my son & his bride picked something by Loreena McKennitt...and I've been to weddings where Pachelbel's Canon was played and it's wonderful. Great choice.
Weirdest song I ever heard used during a ceremony: 'As Time Goes By' from Chicago, mostly because it was sung terribly off-key and we were all wincing.

Our song was I knew I loved you, by savage garden. It fit as the song goes "I knew I loved you before I met you", and we met and fell in love over the internet. :D

I like the songs you picked, they are nice :) I'd never heard of the one you uploaded, so I'm glad you did that. :D

Edited to add : I walked down the aisle to the same song, just instrumental :D

Frist Dance was Aerosmiths version of don't wanna miss a thing.

I think I'm looking at walking down the isle to Enya's "Only Time"

Our song, would have to be Michelle Branch's "1000 miles".

We're going with Madonna.

*kisses*

You put yourself into this position when you told me I can do whatever I want with the wedding, and that I make all the decisions!

By the way, we could always go with Cradle of Filth's "Nymphetamine"... Its very fitting and beautiful, and I am of course your addictive drug..

Though I think my family will freak out if they hear this as our wedding song *chuckles*

No Madonna. Sorry.

If you get Madonna into the wedding music, I get Slipknot.

And I love you.

Morr
June 3rd, 2006, 05:40 PM
I never said slipknot cant be on the wedding song list.

We can get Vermilion part 2 in there.

And for the US wedding, when we have that party for all our friends you can crank up Iowa.

By Your Side by Sade is a great song. Also there is the Wedding Song by Tracy Chapman.

LOLOLOL... I'm cracking up. How bout Madonna's "Like a Virgin"? LOLOL... If you're wearing white, ya know :hehehehe: Or "Respect Yourself," don't go for second best baby... LOLOLOLOL!

We're in the planning stages with ours now that we've set the locale. When our guests are seated for the ceremony, two songs will play - first "Give Me A Kiss To Build a Dream On," by Louis Armstrong, the second a live version of "In Your Eyes," by Peter Gabriel, then here comes the bride, blablabla.

First dance, we're not sure of yet. Will definitely do a dance to Frankie's "Witchcraft," for sure!

I like Donna Lewis' "Take Me Home".

If we do a vow renewal with the whole big party and everything (since we didn't do it for our wedding) I want that to be our first dance.

Since I got married in a ummm (cough, ach) errr catholic church (runs and hides) we could not have any none church music. So the bridesmaids and groomsmen walked down to Canon in D by Pachabel (sp?) and Ithink Iwalked down to The Wedding March by Mozart??
Our first dance at the reception was Amazed by Lonestar..LOVE THAT SONG

Another song we considered dancing to When you say nothing at all by Allison Kraus. Read the words..lovely!!

seems I am the only one who actually considered "accidentally" having the theme song to Jaws played as I walked down the aisle? :hehehehe: You have to admit, the looks on people faces who weren't expecting it (like the groom for instance) would be priceless....:fpraise:

I think the other half wants to walk in to "(I would walk) 500 Miles" by the Proclaimers. I love Pia's Shyam, but I'd want all the song and that would have to be a damn long aisle!! I would put lyrics on but I can't find them!! Sade is a great choice, and madonna isnt that bad!!! Our song is Madness " It must be love"

Good Luck everyone!
