View Full Version : Post-tubal pregnancy?

After the birth of my daughter (third child) I decided it was time to close up shop. I had my tubes tied in December 2004. Since then, my periods have been heavier and more painful, but fairly regular. Until this month, that is. Should have been here by now! I've only been this late three times... I've also been googling around and apparently the failure rate of tubal ligation is a bit higher than the doctors like to let on.
Freaking out now.

How late are you? You might want to do a pegnancy test. If you are pregnant, it is more than likely a tubal pregnancy and you'll need to see your doctor right away. That's what I was told when I got my tubal several years ago. What kind of tubal did you get?

Well, its not unheard of, definitely.
I agree with Gaia21 - go get a pregnancy test if you can. If it comes back positive, you should get to the doc ASAP so that they can make sure it ISN'T a tubal pregnancy if you do happen to be pregnant. You want to catch ectopics as early as possible.

I'm about a week late, and had the cut and burn procedure. I've got my fingers crossed that my new meds are messing with my cycle, but I don't know. I've decided to give it the weekend, and if nothing happens, I'll take a test. I will definitely keep you posted!
Ugh. Never thought I'd have to do this again!!

Try not to stress too much as that can throw things all out of whack too.

I had the cut and burn as well. It's supposed to be more effective than having the band after the tubes are cut. Tubals are actually supposed to be 99.5% effective. Chances are you are not pregnant but there is always that slight chance that you are so definitely better safe than sorry. Please let us know the outcome. I'm sending you some claming energy and energy for a good outcome. :hugz:

Well, I just tested, and it gave me a big, fat negatory. Whew!
