That's awesome! Oh hey I found my first deck, Marseilles. Ya'll can see how hard it was for a beginner when trying to read the minor cards. *points at swords and wands* I still don't know how to tell when they're reversed. *scratches head*

Is it weird that I totally want that Gummy Bear deck? XD

The Medival Cat deck looks really nice, as does the Goddess, Celestial, and the Dragon decks.

Very good site, thanks for the link! :3

It's no worse than the fact that I just ordered the Halloween deck!

Thanks for posting that link dragenfly!

I think I have 6 out of that batch. Maybe 7.

When you are first learning tarot, I would suggest a deck wtih really clear imagery (stay away from the ones without pictures on the minor arcana). The Moon Garden set seems to fill that bill.

Some of those decks are available as book and card sets.

Some of the imagery is related to particular cultures. That can help guide your choice.

Some are multicultural, like Medicine Woman, which has a Native American flavor to it, but really embraces multiple paths.

Morgan Greer is a very clear, easy to read version of Rider Waite.

Robin Wood (not pictured there) is one of my favorites. Connolly is also very easy to learn from.

If you can keep yourself from overbidding, ebay is a great place to look for decks. One of my friends often ends up with decks for under a dollar, plus shipping.

I have the Halloween deck, and want to get the baseball one.

Another MUST HAVE is the Housewive's Tarot. It comes in a recipe box, and includes several magickal recipes. Wands are represented by brooms and vaccuum cleaners. The magician is a Washing Machine ... it's great!

Is it true that someone has to buy you your first deck? That Dragon deck is pretty sweet.

Nope.

Nor do you have to steal it.

Or make the purchase solely in pre-1964 american half-dollars during a full moon or new moon or only on a blue moon.

Don't sweat it.

Pony up the $20 and take it home.

Have fun!

More decks ... unfortunately there isn't a linked master (alphabetized) index.

This site does not have full decks, but has enough sample cards for each to get a decent idea of what you're buying:

No, not at all. No one has to buy you a first deck or any subsequent decks. Although if anyone wants to buy me any, I will be happy to accept :D
