View Full Version : Slightly worried...

I'm a bit worried that my little bean in there is going to arrive prematurely. For the past couple of weeks my BHs have gotten really numerous (at least 10 per hour) and they are quite long lasting (1-2 minutes), bordering on painfull. At the same time I have been getting period-like cramps/pains almost every night for the past week.
I am going in for a cervix scan tomorrow, so fingers crossed nothing has started softening up too much... I just hope and pray that she sticks it out in there untill I am at least 37+0, which will be July 1st. Then she is free to come at any time she wants.
I know that being past 34 weeks means her chances of full health etc are high, but if I go into labour before 37+0 I have to be transferred to a hospital 2 hours drive from here (because they have an NICU, which my hospital doesn't), in another city and I worked there once and I reeeeeally do not want to have my child in that place (big factory like building where the staff seem to work it as assembly lines, not births).
So, if you can spare some energy or have a nack at binding-spells, please help her stay in there until July 1st.

I know where you are coming from. I have been having contractions for over two months and I am only 32 weeks now. I will cross my fingers and light a candle for you. Hugs to you and hopes that she will wait till you are ready for her to have her where it is best for both of you.

I went for the scan, but after speaking with the OBGYN I decided not to have the vaginal scan, because with the many BHs I do not want to provoke further development. And being past 34 weeks, there would be no action taken on a basis of a ripening cervix. So instead I had a normal, quick scan (abdominal) and she has the size and weight on her side, even if she is to arrive early.
So I have decided that I want no more uls/scan. if she comes, then she comes and we'll take it from there.
But I do cross my fingers that she waits until at least 37+0!!

Here's to praying we both last longer. I've been experiencing the same things as you. Not to mention sharp shooting pains in my cervix. I would think they were from him moving, kicking or punching, but it happens mostly when he's not moving. I've also dropped a little...others have told me so. But I can also tell by the space between where my boobs and belly used to meet!! ~lol~

Is he lying head down?
I get that shooting pain in my cervix/privates too, with me it is when she moves/rotates her head, because she is fully engaged and has been for weeks now. It could be what your boy is doing too, which could explain that you feel the pain even when he isn't moving.

 We are juggling names around like mad people, but the thing is, I don't think we will pick one final one, until she is born and we can see what she looks like.
Ayla is still very much on the list, as are a couple of others- Linnea , Frida and Sigrid. These are mostly Nordic names, so many here on MW might find them odd :)
I have come to rather liking Linnea (pronounced Lee-'nea), the reasons being that, not only is it a beautiful flower ( http://images.google.dk/images?q=linnea+borealis&hl=da ), but that from Swedish (I am of Swedish decent) it originates from linden (lime) tree also considered to be the tree of life. And my surname is (translated from Danish) Lindenflowerr, making her first name and surname "fit". On top of that, my irl-name (first name) means Tree of Life in Japaneese (hence, the linden tree again)....
I never imagined it would take this much time and energy to pick a name, but the thing is, whatever name we pick for her, will be with her for her entire life, so we want to make sure that it is not only a name we find pretty, but that it has positive energies in it and that she can live without growing tired of it.

Hey HorseCrow & Ga Ma...
I came out early like that! I barely even finished the 8th month of the pregnancy and I was out!!
Hell, my mom went into labor with me at 6 months
I was anxious...
But all I'm trying to say is, that was 24 years ago, and here I am alive and kicking and healthier than ever.. So, even if they are a bit of trouble makers by the end of the pregnancy, dont worry :)
Us early birds usually turn out to be big bad asses ;)

Hang in there! On a maybe positive, I got those shooting pains you describe for the final 3-4 weeks regularly on all 3 of my pregnancies, so it might just be one of those lovely pregnancy associated symptoms and not a sign of delivery.
Please keep us updated! I will be thinking of you.:)

OK I love the name Linnea. Love the play with words with it. Sigrid Im not to fond of LMAO Yea a bit off to my ears but of course I LOVEAyla which of course you already knew. Love it!! I think it would infuse her with the strength of the character she was named after. At least that is my hope with Victoria. I named her after an amazingly strong friend of the family and every day I pray that name will help take her to be as strong and amazing as Vickie is. So that is how I chose Victorias name. But Linea is a georgous name. And the name ties that go with it. Beautiful!!!!!!!!
