Em hotep, fellow Egypt-themed enthusiasts!

I'm not sure if this is the right section, but it seemed like the mostly likely place to find speakers of Coptic, so - are there any here?

I don't speak it myself, but I plan to change that soon :D

Em Hotep ishysquishy!

I am teaching myself hieroglyphics at the moment and by the look of it, I will still be toiling away at it ten years from now... so no Coptic studies for me in the near future :D

Did you have any specific questions about Coptic or were you looking for speakers of the language to help you get started?
If you have some questions about common roots etc, I have some books by Champollion, who very often gave the Coptic translation of the hieroglyphs he transcribed. So I might be able to help with that, but not much more :)

I didn't actually have a goal in mind, I'm just looking for kindred spirits of a sort :)

Plus it would be nice to have someone to talk to about it, just for the sake of conversation.

I found this link for you:

I do not know how active these forums are, but maybe as a starting point?

Learning languages is fascinating... I do hope you will find good resources and like-minded people to help you with your studies! :)
