Ok, I'm officially grounded from using Gorilla Glue.

I have this retro soap dispenser that is glass, with a metal bottom. The metal bottom fell off. I remember being in line at Home Depot or something and seeing "Gorilla Glue," and how it touted it could glue anything...

I asked my SO if he/we had any Gorilla Glue. He said yes. I found it, and proceded to glue the metal bottom back onto the glass canister. I squeezed a bit on, then thought "hmm, I'd better put more on." So I did, fit everything into place, left it on the kitchen counter, walked away.

OMGODS

I came back, I suppose I should have read the directions (**ALERT ALERT** **LUCY MOMENT** **LUCY MOMENT**). The stuff expands. Everywhere. So here I am going, "Honey... Can you come here?" hehe

Stuff oozed all over the sides and made a real mess, I grabbed the scrubby sponge and tried to wipe off sides, failed miserably. Rinsed sponge in sink. Got glue on hands/nails, got soap. Noticed on label "Waterproof!" Oh good. K, so made a mess - SO grabbed rubbing alcohol, seemed to work. Next day, had to peel off yellow residue off hands (nice...). Soap dispenser was glued, thought all was cool....

NO.

I freeking Gorilla Glued our garbage disposal shut!!!!! The few dribblets I tried to wash out of the sponge and off my hands froze our disposal!!! So SO installed a new disposal today, and my Gorilla Glue days are over.

I know, long story about dumb incident - but hey, don't we all have one? LOLOLOL.......

I hadn't actually heard about Gorilla Glue until I was talking about repairing a pair of boots I have where the heels have seperated from the rest of the boot. Someone mentioned to me that I should try this stuff, and proceeded to show me the website. (wtf, right?) I had a grand time with the "glue finder" on there, and actually had it in my sig for a while.

But back to the glue! I haven't gone searching for it yet, but from the sounds of it, it just might work where automotive "goop" didn't. ;)

There's also Gorilla Tape! That stuff's even stickier than duct tape. Take my advice....don't put Gorilla Tape anywhere on your body that has hair!

:hehehe: I don't know if gorilla glue is anything like superglue, but some of them are pretty bad.

Suzette, I think we might be soul sisters.

My friends and family will joke about idoit proof things, asking if they're also Mare proof. I once tried to use those plastic ties that cop sometimes use as handcuffs and managed to get one stuck in my finger so tightly that my finger turned purple and my father had to pull the car over and purchase a pair of nailclippers from a little gas station to hack it off.

On the subject, I hear Gorilla Glue is very good, but I now know if I try to use it to be careful. Thanks Suzette! ;)

Thank you for the words of warning... a woman in a line at the lumberyard was telling me how wonderful this is....and failed to provide any warning. Now I know what not to do. (Glued shut the garbage disposal.....LOL... amazing stuff.)

I asked my SO to break out the GG to fix my ballerina slipper today. The sole was coming apart from the leather.

I actually went looking for it before I asked him, and couldn't find, LOLOLOL.... Guess that told me!

I just use contact cement. Its very messy and alot comes out even if you squeeze just a dab. I dont think it "expands" thou 8O

One of my friends got the side mirror on his car ripped off and he used Gorilla Glue to put it back on. He said that the mirror that he fixed is better than the other one now.
All he told me was that if you get the glue on your fingers.......make sure that ya don't try to wash it off with water. Evidently water makes it stronger or something.
Anyway.....he swears by the stuff.

In science team we used gorilla glue to build little wooden bridges... it was always a big thing, like, "oh! The glue is expanding! it will add weight to the bridge! saw the mother*%&#!& off!"
Plain old cheap superglue works just fine for me.

:hehehe: Thanks for sharing! I used Gorilla glue to try to repair some floor tile once. After I was able to separate my hand from the floor again, I decided it wasn't quite for me, either. :weirdsmil

Gorilla Glue has saved so much stuff at my house. Both my husband and I excel at breaking stuff and Gorilla Glue is the bomb. This is of course when you don't get it ON yourself. But there's a little time between the application and the setup so if you catch it you should be fine.

I used GG on my Lumenlab LCD projector and it foamed out so now when I watch movies, I can see a blurb on the right hand side - no big deal - one gets used to it, butttt.......

I am dangerous enough when left alone with superglue. I think I will give Gorilla Glue a miss. (still giggling about the garbage disposal!)
