Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
Does anyone know where I can order blank, sturdy books for a BOS that could be passed down through family generations?
I've googled it but so far only came up with the typical 4'-7' black leather books with text on the front. I'm looking for something a little more fantastical/traditional?

All I can say is pass on the ones with handmade paper, unless you can tell that the ink you use doesn't bleed all the way through. I have had this problem with 2 BOS that I have purchased, so much that I had to go with something like this:Diana BOS (http://www.13moons.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6_8&products_id=868)
It is rather sturdy, and works great for my purposes. :)
But if you want to go all out on something to pass down through the family, try here: Brahms Bookworks (http://www.brahmsbookworks.com/index.html)
I'll warn you though, these are EXTREMELY expensive. o.o Pretty though!
* I just noticed that Brahms is having a sale. It says April update, but I dunno if the sale still applies. If I had the cashola, I'd get one myself! :)

PM Caffiend, she makes some absolutely gorgeous BOS's with wooden covers... might be a thread over in the Pagan Market Forum somewhere...

Magical Omaha has wooden BOSes for about $50. Very pretty. This site also has some replicas of the BOS used in the Charmed TV series.

I would love to find one that has a wooden cover that opens flat and has lined paper that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I've only been looking for one for about a gazillion years now...lol. When all else fails...a 3 ring binder with dividers and notebook paper is what I use.

here are two places that i've looked at, but a word of warning, they are expenisive!
http://brahmsbookworks.com/ (http://http://brahmsbookworks.com/)
and this is where I'm getting mine made! It's all custom... choose your paper, your leather colour... all that stuff:

Good luck searching!

Thank you all very much, I'll check out these places. ^_^
Price isn't really a problem for me, if it's worth it, I'd pay alot for it.

You could always DIY. I can make a blank book of around 200 pages in one day, if I have nothing else to do :P I admit I used plain printer paper, cardboard, cloth, carpenter's glue, and thread, but the recipient was delighted with my work.
I could always try and write a how-to one of these days.

What I would suggest, rather than buying a bound book, is possibly buying a binder and using sheet protectors... this will help keep pages safe and allow you to use the BOS more practically.
Just a thought. :) I know it doesn't necessarily make for as pretty of an heirloom type of deal... but you could decorate it, give it it's own special cover... etc. :p

I am by no means an expert or even remotely experienced with BOS type things but I thought of something today as I roamed the aisles of Michaels.
Why not a leather bound acid free page scrapbook? With an adornment of your choice afixed to the front cover.
Like Kalika mentioned regarding the page protectors, I think the idea with scrapbooks is to create a page and slip it into a page protector.
I suppose one of the things I thought would be neat about this was the acid free idea. Plus they are becoming more and more affordable.
But as I said, this is in no way my area of expertise just an idea.

Ooh, craft ideas! ^^ Sounds like fun, I could try it.
The how-to sounds like fun, as well.
