We don't know how or why. He was only 8 and had no health problems that we knew of. We found him lying in the basement last night. We are completely devastated- he was our baby. We just put down another cat only 7 months ago too and my kids still talk and miss him. At least the two of them are together now.
We are also going to take him for an autopsy. We have two other cats and don't want anything to happen to them.
I had been thinking about getting a new baby for the last few weeks. i think we will now, but not for a while.

I'm so sorry for your family's loss. I hope you find the cause and it will prevent anything happening to your other kitties. ;)

A cat is never a pet, it is always a member of the family. Take time to grieve before you bring another baby home. As long as we have memories, someone who is gone is never far away.

I'm so sorry about your cat, Chris. I hope you find the cause, even just to make sure it doesn't happen to your other cats. I'll keep you guys in my thoughts.

I am so sorry to hear this please let us know if they find anything and i think we will all be hoping it's nothing that can affect the others. I know I will be hoping for that at least.

I hope you find out what killed your baby. I hope it wasn't a mean neighbor. That happened to my friend, her neighbor poisoned her cat. She took him to court and he had to pay a fine, but her cat was still gone. Oh, if something happened to my Bubby, I don't know what I'd do. I agree, though, maybe you should find out what happened before you bring another baby into the house. Let us know when you find out. My thoughts are with you.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. As corny as this sounds: nobody (animal or human) is never gone, as long as we remember them.

I know how tough it is to say good-bye to a furry family member. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.

...for all of your kind words and thoughts. It helps so much to be able to talk to people who understand that a cat is not just a pet or companion, but a true member of the family. I have been praying to Bast to keep him safe and happy and I hope she enjoys his cuddles and purrs as much as we did.
We did end up getting a another cat yesterday. I am not ready but my husband really needed to do this. We found him at the shelter- a solid black male about 1-2 years old. My son named him Merlin. He seems very sweet and cuddly with us already. He has bonded with my husband and I think that is taking the edge off for him. And my son has been giving him tours of the house. "C'mon Merlin, let me show you where I sleep. This is my bed, these are my toys..." And the cat follows him completely around the house. I am sure I will fall in love with him as soon as I am ready. That I don't doubt.
Anyway, I am bringing my Weedgie (Pj's nick- one of many) in to the vets today. I hope we find some answers and start healing ourselves.
Thanks again.

Chris!!!!!! I'm so sorry about your Kitty!!!! (((((((((((((((((((((((HUGE HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
It still hurts when I think of my first Kitty and he died nearly 10 years ago. But I have Tobias T. Cat now (my son gave him the name) and he rocks. It took me 10 years to get a new baby, but I know how your husband feels. Your son sounds like he already adores Merlin.

Thank you again. I don't think there is any way we could ever forget our PJ. He was the cutest sweetest, happpiest little guy we have ever had. He had this smiling look always on his face and a little bouncy walk. He walked jauntily! When you would pet him, he would just melt into a puddle of mush and fur. The kids loved him b/c they could pet him and love him as a 3 and 5 year old can and he would love it! And just purr until they stopped.
We got the autopsy results back last night. Our vet believes it to be a heart attack. he said all of his internal organs were healthy, there was no sign of toxins inthe stomach or digestive system, no signs of any trauma. he had a faint heart murmer at his last check up and based on that and the fact that this was completely sudden and had no other symtpoms. he feels it was his heart. If there is a good thing to say, the dr says it would have been quick and with very little, if no suffering and pain. And that is a relief. I would hate to think that my baby could have died in pain and I wasn't there for him.
My vet and his staff are the most wonderful people and they have helped me a lot. We wrapped Peej's body up in a baby blanket (stupid, I know) when I brought him in yesterday. the vet told me he would need to be int he freezer until I got him today, but he made sure he was all wrapped up in his blanket again. And yesterday, they couldn't be sweeter to me when I brought him in.
Ok, I am done rambling.... I am just still so sad... we are going to bury him tonight, and now I am looking for an angel cat to make into a little memorial garden, one for Peej and one for Rhett...
Thanks for listening to a sad woman cry.
