I recently made myself a drum (out of a coffee can and some plastic) and it works pretty good. But the next thing I want to figure out how to do is dancing along with the drumming. Whether its intricate or simply circle dancing.

If anyone could give me tips or links that would be great!

I just dance and drum as the energy and mood takes me.

When I dance (I only dance by myself :)), I tend to just let the beat carry me and my body will respond to it.

I found some links, but I'm not sure they will help....watch some videos, and move to the music......

I find swaying helps me...swaying my upper body and head from side to side, increasing in violence with the power of the beat.

oh thats a good idea too! Let your body dictate the dance and sway. :)

MHM! Like when I listen to my Bhajans (prayers) they use Indian music which is very fast paced at times...so and ive seen a lot of others do this, they sway there heads and upper bodies with the beat and the swaying actually does help me a lot because the movement is so rythmic that it increases blood flow through the body and you feel a lot more energy.

I also dance to raise energy. I just dance to beat and how the energy takes me. I dance by myself or with others, whoevers there, it doesn't matter to me, lol. I'mma little dancer. :D Its a great way to raise energy, though, I drum and I've never drummed and danced at the same time, this is partially because my drum is huge.

brightest blessings,
Autumn

Some people use what is called a side drum. The side drum produces different tones depending upon where you tap it. Also it isn't all that large, so you hold it with one hand, and tap the drum with the other. With the side drum, it shouldn't be all that hard to drum & dance at the same time.

The energy of Dance can be phenomenal. The rythymic motions act as a pump to stimulate the flow of Cranial Sacral fluids which encase the nervous system, especially along the spine. This nourishes the entire nervous system, and secondarily all of the internal organs & glands. In Ecstatic Spiritual Dancing, (think Native American, Sufi & African Traditions), the lower Chakras are opened first, and sequentially the higher ones, until the World of Spiritual Vision is reveal through the Crown.
