i know this could have gone into health, but i felt more of a response would be here.

are you always on the date you are suppose to start, or are you irregular.

i use to be regular, but this year, i've been like three days late, one month i was six days late, and this month i was five days late, and its gettin really annoying, cause it seems like when i'm late, the aches and the period itself seems worse and more painful.

does anyone else deal with this too?

Im pretty regular I can predict it down to the day pretty much now
as I recall when I was irregualr and I talked to my doc he said that the body goes through changes every 10 years and that is why sometimes when you have been really regular before it changes like that every so often
I know its quite frusterating

I am an absolute wreck atm regards regularity...in the last 4 months I have had approx ten 'periods' been to the docs and know why but its really annoying!!:awilly:

Even before that I was never all that regular, I could be easily a week or even ten days early or late and that was the 'norm' for me...I just don't worry about it anymore, although I do get very jealous of those lucky ladies who know exactly when they are due on, so don't have to carry "supplies" around with them all the time!!8O What made me really pig sick was when I was told this kind of thing runs in families, so I asked my mum, and she said she has never been on a period for more than 3 days in her whole life, and was regular as clockwork...me I average 5-8 days and am a total mess regularity wise lol...sucks eh

The only time it ever was a minor issue was with my pregnancies...I always got a scan pretty much as soon as I went to the docs, as being so irregluar my cycle was no way of determining when I was due etc...although that was a bonus, I'll take all the extra scans I can get when pregnant!:hahugh:

Well at the moment I don't have them, but otherwise, they have always been very accurate and come every 24-26 days. But even though they are regukar, they are still very VERY painful (as in stay in bed day 1 and 2).

I was extremely irregular before I started using the pill. I even had one incident where I bled for 14 days straight, then had no period for two months...what a nightmare. On the pill, I know exactly when/what time I'll get it.

Never very regular.

I'm always on the pill for that reason... the whole "not knowing" business drives me crazy. :p

I'm very irregular, which sucks with me trying to get pregnant. Never know when to test for ovulation. Temping doesn't work because I never go to bed or get up at the same time, so my temps are always wacky.

Stress can be a factor in the regularity of cycles. But, If it's getting more and more irregular and becoming painful when it used to not be, you should get checked out by an doctor. Sometimes that is a sign of problems. I would want to know just for the ease of mind.

Babydoll..... I use fertilityfriend.com to help chart for ovulation... one of the suggestions they have for temperature, is to set an alarm clock so you can take your temperature at the same time every day. It works for me. :)

As for the original question....before my son and IUD for 2 years, I was extremely regular...28 day cycle... now it seems to have changed to 30-31 days, and I'm still trying to figure it out.

Mine are 29-30 days naturally, 28 with the BC and with birthcontrol I can always tell within one day of when they arrive :)

before i had my kids i was really irregular, sometimes skipping 6 months at a time. after each kid it was like clockwork for a while. now it's settled down to anywhere from 28 days to a month and a half.

Way back when ... before I began birth control, I used to be regular, I believe my cycle lasted for 28 days ... after I went on birth control, which involved everything from the pill, monthly injections and finally the 3 year Impanon, which screwed my cycle up so much that I'd be bleeding at least 2 out of every three weeks, well for the last year of it anyway.

I still have yet to get my period back after having Xander ... so we shall see how regular I am after that.

Do you have intense abdominal pain? Does it hurt when/if you have intercourse? These can be signs of endometriosis and should be checked out by an OBGYN. Another common reason for irregular periods is polycystic ovaries. Basically a functional cyst forms on the ovary but it does not burst to allow the release of the egg to signal the start of menstruation. Multiple cysts will form on the ovaries resulting in very painful menstruation. Often increased insulin levels and uneven hormone levels will also help to diagnose this, and can be determined by a simple blood test.

I have short cycles of 18-20 days with long times of bleeding 8 days or more.

Im not heavy or in pain except once a year I'll have a crazy month/cycle.

I've never been any different since I was 12 (13 years) so it doesnt bother me much, child birth and contraceptives hasnt changed it at all.

because of birth control i don't have them. but i'm very very irregular. I will have one then a week later have another. I have gone 3 months without one and i have had one a month long. I also bleed alot. I'm little and anemic anyway so it really sucks. I can't drive with my period because of a chance i could pass out. thats why the birth control for me..lol

Like clockwork, you can set a calendar by me. I also don't have any problems with cramping, but I am a heavy bleeder.

what? you mean they are supposed to have some sort of schedule? lol... i have never been regular, although for the first 3 months of this year, i was, but now i'm back to not knowing... i skipped my period this month, which is actually a good thing, because it was supposed to happen this week, and i did not want my birthday and birthday party to be spent in misery, with horrible cramps and everything. actually, i have several symptoms of polycystic ovaries, and i'm planning on seeing a doctor about it in the next month or so, but i'm in no hurry to be regular..

I was pretty regular before I had Zoe, I had cycles that lasted 28-30 days on or off BC, but now I have no clue whats going on with my body. After I had her I bleed for the six weeks like the docs say and then I had my first period I guess and so did the doc. So that means I was bleeding for like 10 weeks straight. I went on BC again and the pill pack is done and before I used to get my periods when the "active" pills were gone and now I am three days late and my period just came but the blood is dark and not bright like before. Can anyone tell me whats going on? My hubby and I were together, but I was bleeding before and then I went on BC right away and used condums as back up like I was supposed to. My worst fear would be to end up pregnant again we have NO way of handling that right now. EEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!

I used fertility friend for a while, a few years ago. It is a great site! It just doesn't work for me. I'm working with a fertility specialist now.

Not very. I have polycystic overy syndrome(PCOS). It seems the least little thing mucks up my cycle. Hot weather hits and I ususally skip a month or 2. Stress......I'm "late" or skip it all together. And the PMS.....then the actual period itself: cramps that incapasitate me for a day or 2, some nasty mood swings, can't wear any rings because of bloating. All those nice drugs out there to help a woman's period and not a one of them does much for me. OK, I'm done ranting. As you can tell, this month is a doozy.

I have been really lucky as far as being regular. Every 25 days. It used to be I would have one month a year 24 and one month a year 26. Once very 5 years or so something screwy would happen, like the 35 day cycle, that freaked me out. I am in the perimenopause thingy now, so they are a little wacky, but are more regular since I started using a progesterone cream. Good luck.

I've been on the pill for 2.5 years, so, yeah, my periods are very regular!
But before I was on the pill, they would be late some months, and I'd skip about 2 - 3 periods a year.

My periods come regularly, but the length of them is what is irregular these days.

You think being off by a few days is bad... mine skip for months. I usually have to take pills in order to have one.
