Ok I asked the doctor about these and the midwife but am not getting good answers so I am looking for some other viewpoints. I have been getting contractions for quite some time now but lately I am also getting vaginal instead of just the uterine contractions. I know my cervix is softening and slowly and rather painfully starting to dialate. Are the vaginal contractions common when you have had a lot of kids? Is there a way to ease them a bit so I don't feel as if I am being ripped apart?

I've been having the same thing happening. But it's not as "regular" as my contractions. I never know when they are going to happen. Do you notice it happening when you're doing something, like walking etc, or does it come and go regularly like contractions? Sometimes, mine come whenever they feel like it. Other times it's when I'm walking. And still other times after the baby moves. The only thing I've found to help ease the pain is to relax....which isn't always easy. :hugz: The finish line is in sight and we will soon cross it!!

I get them pretty regularly like the regular contractions. They are worse right after a uterine one though.

I remember this being mentioned during the LaMaze classes I took with my daughter when she was pregnant, but that's been over 8 years ago, so I don't remember what they said about it.

I just did a Google and found this site, it looks really helpful:
