Exactly what were you all taking pictures of? The night sky?

These types of photos are the result of hand-holding a camera while trying to take a picture at night. The shutter speed was too slow. What you're seeing are the lights in the third photo blurred by the photographer's movements during a too-long exposure. Nothing paranormal.

Hehe, I have no idea what she was shooting at, or anything about cameras. Just thought this belonged here!

Why? It's some pictures of fireworks taken with too slow of a shutter speed. ;)

It's really easy. Just find a point light source, like streetlights at a distance (point light source means it appears as a dot of light). You could even use a stationary flashlight at a distance. Set a long shutter speed on your camera, at least a couple of seconds, then hand-hold the camera while you take the picture. It's impossible to hold your hands perfectly still, they always have a little bit of shake to them, and it's this shake that causes the blurred image at long shutter speeds. The pattern the point of light makes shows the motion of your hand shake.

i have done quite a few pics like this,

bulb exposure (ie:shutter open with a control for how ever long you want it) use the flash, and move around, flash it again and you are exposed 2 times on the frame,

use external light sorce to draw an image on the frame, the first one i did my friend used a lighter and painted a peace sign.

I think Picasso did a few photos like that. I've seen one where he drew a horse with light, it was really pretty.
...or maybe it was Dali? I can't remember, photography class was years ago.
*edit* Hah! My 666th post! Ooooh, scary....

Picasso, IIRC. I was impressed by those pictures; you've really got to have a good kinetic memory to sketch something with light like that.

Well if you can't set the shutter speed on your camera, just "accidentally" shake the camera a bit while taking the picture! :P
