Can energy healing be used to heal mental disorder like depression and anxiety? I have bizarre obsessions that make me question reality, and it has been causing me a lot of pain for the last couple of months. Is this something that can be healed?

Depression and anxiety can be easily treated by your family doctor. No one needs to suffer from these things in this day and age. My advice is to seek medication from your family doctor and then after it's under control, explore the energy healing aspects.

Depression and anxiety aren't exactly the problem. It's this weird obsession thing.

Obsessions aren't necessarily weird. Goddess knows I have plenty. And "reality" is never what it's cracked up to be.
Care to elaborate a little more?

I think it can help relax the mind and body and be an ADDED therapy but most times these disorders are caused by chemical imbalances, and though the brain is a wonderful pharmacy of drugs, it take outside chemical help to balance and help treat. Never rely on just one tool if you have many.

I'm a psych major, I've had my fair share of studying neurotransmitters, SSRIs and the like, its just that...I might have depersonalization disorder and was wondering if any alternative medical techniques could help...

Have you been diagnosed or is this more of a self-diagnosis? Some depersonalization is common due to stress or lack of sleep. If its an ongoing, continuing symptom then its probably caused by another disorder, like anxiety or stress disorders, and a couple of more serious ones as well as drug use and even transcendental meditation! It is the 3rd most common psychological experience along with anxiety and depression. Have you seen a psych at all? Id do that first and then go from there, but Reiki can be a good additional tool for alot of things. Good luck!

I've seen the school psych. We think I have minor depersonalization symptoms but probably not a full blown disorder. I'm not depressed and not anxious, which I know to be things that promote depersonalization...it's really tapering off, I just feel mildly out of touch with reality, things seem somewhat surreal.
I know of the dangers of self-diagnosis, my counselor and I have talked about it. I was just curious as to how much reiki could help...

well Im really not a reiki person, just someone who does alot of work in the mental health field, BUT I'd say again it may help relax OR it may cause addition dissociation. I can remember being young and having many of those feelings. It may have just been a period in my life...I dont know. I stil have some ever so often but I just kinda go thru em and on with things. Im low level Bipolar, anti-social and a recovering sociopath...no kidding! lol But Id see a FULL Professional, not just the school nurse, or talk to your psych teacher and see if they know of someone you can talk to. You can try the Reiki but if it appears to get worse, then discontinue and try alternatives.

you may want to look into flower essences. bach flower essences are available at any health food store.
clematis or rescue remedy may help with helping you come back into reality. and maybe aspen if there is some anxiety tied in.
PM me if you are interested and i can direct you to flower essences that may assist you in getting balanced.
reiki may help. it depends on the practitioner and how often you get it done. having someone do some chakra balancing and aura cleansing and openening and grounding your feet chakras may help in feeling more grounded and less out of reality

Flower essences are a good idea. I know I have had good results with people with panic attacks and other mental issues, even from a distance.
If you want to talk more feel free to PM me and I can see what I can come up with, or if you want to schedule a personal session we can do that and see what happens.
