View Full Version : My public apology.

I'd like to apologize for the way my "Real Men Don't Rape" post was taken. It was an error of judgement made partially because other boards including an ultra-conservative Christian BBS got the joke right away and took no offense.

I'm sorry if you thought it was in poor taste, but I did it to make a point aboput sexism against men. The passage bassically said that if a woman is drunk she is not responsible for her actions but if a man is drunk he is. It's just like a black person saying "white people are racist". It's adouble standard that struck me as humorous because of it's unintended hypocrisy.

I still don't feel like I implied that rape was funny, but I'm apologizing right now. I don't wish to offend anyone. This is the best board I have ever found and it's the last one I want to be considered an immature troll on.

Once again, I'm sorry. Feel free to delete that post. I hope we can all still be friends.

No real harm done, I'm sure. :)

No worries. These things happen - being on a forum it's impossible to see facial expression etc. so a dash of misunderstanding can happen.

Suckling, if that explanation had accompanied your original post, it would have made more sense the point you were trying to convey. As it was, we did not understand what you were hoping to say. Perhaps "ironic" would have been a better choice of words.

You cant overthink every post...(ooh is this going to offend?)
But you have to be willing to bend just in case it does get out
of hand.

What makes it difficult for people is when they post it and others
spot and point out the mistake or error. Now before it can be
corrected, others notice and the thread becomes a "why did you
say that?" thread. We dont want that. Your thread has become
a great topic and moved beyond its opening error(s) (plural, yours
and ours if you think us wrong.)

Without face to face dialogue, words can and have too carry more
meaning. What you write is what you mean. You see a lot of
posts with things like; I dont mean to be mean, IMO, may be just me, not that I agree..., and things like that.

It is very nice of you to post an apology and it is greatly
appreciated, but we are all guilty of this at one time or
another...so really after the fact it is no big deal.

hmmm, kinda rambled....lemmee see...yada yada yada...your nice person...flar covers his own @$$ for future mistakes... Yep. All there.

Accepted...but not really needed. I knew you were not trying to come across as it did. I didnt quite grasp the humor in it, but I figured you had your reasons.

Yeah no big deal, if I miss interpret what someone says like I did with your post, all I require is a little explanation to why someone said what they did. But now that I see what your intent was, it's all cool, and I agree that society can be like that quite often. Though think of it this way your misunderstood post did result in a pretty cool discussion. ;)

I found it sad not humerous. But I got the message. I read the some of the posts, and thought i might post about what i figaure you where ... and what you where .. trying to say. I agree thats its sexist, but in a country where the "melting pot" is on a stove thats not on, sexism toward men and other prejudices/inequalities are often ignored. Its a sad fact about trying to fight hate, that they focus on one group predominatly and ignore all the discrimination towards the rest. For the most part. Sigh.
