I just saw a little piece on ET and apparently all these famous dead celebrities came to speak to him. The list included Marilyn Monroe, JFK Jr., Princess Dianna, etc. And I'm skeptical to believe that all these spirits are still around in a spirit world, or come to visit close family. Apparently Princess Dianna decided to go through to the light when she died so she could guide her sons spiritually. I remember hearing about Prince William going to a church after that and said he wanted to speak to his mom. Anyway, I'm skeptical because I believe by now some of these celebrities would've been reincarnated by now. Is it possible to be reincarnated but for your soul to temporarily come out into its former incarnation to visit loved ones and so on?

There is nothing wrong with being skeptical about things of a paranormal nature. It's good that your asking questions and being objective about this sort of thing.
For me, after a year when my grandmother died I saw her in our kitchen wearing a night robe that she always warn. I was in shock but after that experience I am open to these sort of things. I am not really qualified to say that Van Praagh is a fraud or not..he might of at one time have a gift..but I don't know for sure. I think it depends on how you use your abilities..some are just after a quick buck and some are really interesting in using there ablities to help others. I think he is a totally different type of reader than Miss Browne, he seems sincere.
It's good you have a open mind..

I think being skeptical is a very good choice in this circumstance.

As others have said being skeptical is not a bad thing. I'm skeptical about a lot of things.
This quote from Buddha comes to mind:
"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."
--Buddha
Anyway, as for Praagh speaking to them. When does he claim to have one this? Now or in the past? Do you have a site or link to any of this?
They might be in the spirit world, they might have been reincarnated, they might be who knows where...no one can say for certian.

That's actually a great question. I have no idea!
I never really though about it.

Well as for JFK Jr. he actually had a dream about a plane crash 3 days earlier and when the plane actually crashed (he saw on tv) that it was the one as in his dream. Dianna came to him after her death in 1997 one night to say that she had two choices between going back or going forward to the light. She went through the light to be a guide to her sons, and he also said she's a spirit who's around children alot.

I consider television psychics to be the New Age equivelent of television evangelists.

Funny how once we see something for our selfs we finally believe, yet we don't believe people who have seen it for them selves because we did not see what they saw 8O

I've watched James VanPraugh on television a few times on various programs. He may be an authentic psychic, I couldn't say for sure, but I don't care for the way he leads people when he's reading them. I saw one show where he worked with a young boy who told his family he could see dead people. They had a police sketch artist draw a picture of the dead person that JvP said he could see. Then JvP showed the sketch to the boy and told him that was the person he had been seeing, rather than asking whether the boy had ever seen the person before. Blah.

Oh a sidenote, Van Praagh is the basis for "Ghost Whisperer"
He even has his own blog on the main site: Here (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/ghost_whisperer/blog.php)

Early information on the show said it was based on the life and work of Mary Ann Wintkowski (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Ann_Wintkowski).

Humm, interesting. I was probably wrong then. I just know he's tried to the show in some way. He's got a blog here and stuff...maybe gives them imput? I don't know.
ETA: Nevermind-- we were both right, found this:
The series is based on the work of James Van Praagh, who is a co-executive producer and posts to a blog about the show hosted by CBS. The stories are also said to be based in part on the work of Spirit Communicator Mary Ann Wintkowski.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_Whisperer

My brain simply will not switch gears at the moment. I know that JvP is associated with the program and gives them input as their resident 'expert' but I can't remember what that is called. I know they have something similar on most medical dramas.

Yessss, but that's not the word my poor frazzled brain was searching for. I was thinking along the lines of an "advisor" as well as being co-producer.
Often if I go and do something different the locked mental file will simple unlock itself, allowing me to access the word or phrase I could not for the life of me remember.

My fabulous occult powers tell me that the word you are looking for is Consultant.:)

Yeah ! 'Advisor' and 'consultant' mean about the same thing, but someone who is advising on a tv show is called a 'consultant'. Thank you for helping with the lost word.
