Before we get started, I want to say that please be careful using herbs. The discussions here are not intended to replace proper medical attention. You might want to consult with a certified herbalist or doctor if you have any concerns.

Wow there is a lot here to read thank you so much for putting this together! Once I've gone through & read what was offered in the first thread I would love to do a search on Native American herbs & plants, once I have I'll share what I've come to know :)
SilverMoon - do you know much about the plants you suggested, that you might share with us? :)

Oh, what a great thread!
I have really enjoyed this! I posted to an old thread about how to make a calendula infusion, so I hope someone sees it! I would love to stay in the loop about herbal discussions.
I am growing a nice little garden right now and in about six more weeks should really have enough to share if anyone is interested....
Right now I have:
Calendula
Lavender (Munstead and sweet)
Italian oregano
English Thyme
Rosemary
Dill
Coriander
St. John's Wort
Parsley
Chives
Basil
Patchouly (this is going bananas! Will have LOTS of this to share--smells really good fresh)
Melissa
Lemon Verbena
All were planted under the full moon and are going nuts. I live right on the Gulf Coast so I don't think I will be hampered too much by cold weather.
If anyone wants to share, let me know.....
Blessings to all,
Calyx :floating:

Nope doesn't sound stupid. The only stupid question is the unasked question. Just like you I am new to. The easiest way to find the thread is to scroll down here and then you'll see the green room click on that it will take you back out to the threads scroll down alittle until you find the topic I hope this is what you want Garlic. Click it and your in

Hi Flicker, sorry i haven't seen this before, I forgot to check on it.....
Everything but my chives and my calendula are in a special herb garden. Those two are the only ones in my regular flower beds. Unfortunately one of my calendula plants suffered an ugly fate as the dog trampled on it while chasing a raccoon :flamer:
The herb garden goes something like this......
This summer, Hubby and I built a little raised box that's about 7 feet by 4 feet. It's just landscaping timbers nailed together, and it's not that hard to do. Then I filled it up with a mix of Miracle Gro potting soil and cheapo potting soil. It's raised about 9 inches, I guess, maybe an inch give or take.
The garden I had planted in the spring also met an ugly dog-related fate as we left the gate open and the stupid dog dug up the entire thing. :bangyourh Oh, he got a spanking for that, I can tell you! Damn Laboradors! :meanhead:
The garden doesn't do all that well in the summer as it doesn't get enough sun. But now the trees above it from my neighbor's yard are starting to lose leaves and needles and there is more sun.
All the stuff I have planted says it needs full sun, but I think mine only gets about 4 hours per day right now. But it all seems to be doing ok. If I can only keep the dog out of it!
I hope this has helped a little bit. If you need more, let me know or PM me as I tend to forget about this post.....
