Olympic Ice Skating

Oh, I LOVE watching Ice Skating...expecially couple skating.

I'm watching the Olympic Skating right now, and I was just wondering if anyone else watched the Canadian couple fall at the end of their performance?? It was so cute!! Hehe, I loved their performance, and the fall actually kind of fit :p and luckily they had a sense of humor about it.

I've broken both ankles just walking around. I don't watch ice-skating. It makes my ankles hurt (whine).

I love ice skating. It was a bummer that they fell, but it fit their performance sort of, and they didn't get any points deducted, so it was cute :D And I like watching athletes have a sense of humor about their goof ups is always nice. :D

Yes I saw it. It was cute! They could've almost worked it in if they knew they were going to fall. :) They still got pretty good scores though.

That's all I will watch during the olympics is the ice skating.I haven't watched
tonights yet though had it taped to watch later. but i had heard about that fall
at the end.

I did like ice skating (I skated myself for a long time). Then I started watching some of the more exciting sports and games (X games, gravity games, ect). Ice skating is just way to much of a "make a Barbie out of me" sport. Better then cheerleading but still. I have two friends (they're sisters) who skate. One of them does competitions and stuff.
And who said they all had to skate gracefully to classical music? I hate that! Only the guys can have cool music and they never use it. The women all have to be graceful little swans. Ugh. :razz: If I were any good and wanted to work at it I'd at least use cool music.
I wanna see a pair where the dude is tiny and the chick is tall and she lifts and throws him. Now that I would watch. The music and the fact that they all do the same thing is why I quit.

Well, Chibi, they don't ALL skate to classical music. In fact, one of the couples last night skated to an instrumental Pink Floyd song. Besides, it would be a hell of a time trying to skate to like, System of a Down or Ludicrous or something. Besides, I'm sure if they skated to rock or pop/rap or something, hardly anyone would watch...

I think it's a fun sport, and I don't think it's a "Make a Barbie out of me" sport. ::shrug:: But everyone's got their own POV... :)

The crowd gave them a standing ovation and hardly
applauded the Russian pair who won the gold medal..

I was glad to see china get a medal too

but I think Canada should ahve gotten the gold!!

:G Grr!! That really ticked me off! I didn't see the Russians performance (unfortunately.. :(), but the Canadian performance was excellent... 'twas one of the best performances I've seen.

I saw all three performances & I thought the Canadians were perfect. Even the commentators thought so too...they were speechless throughout their performance. The Russian guy stumbled at the beginning & they still got gold?! This is really going to cheese off a lot of people. There's already grumbling from last winter games about fixed votes. Figure skating is getting a really bad rep!

Incidently, we're in the bid for the 2010 games! It would be so exciting if it comes here. The company I work for would host a few of the events.

Yeah, they were robbed.

I watched on NBC this thing where they split the screen and directly compared the two performances, and the russians looked like amatuers next to the Canadians...

And somehow, on the technicalities...they were tied?! And then won gold?!?!

And I heard that it was rigged. That the French judge made a deal to give them good ratings if the other judge gave the French good ratings on the ice dancing later on in the week...

yeah, heard about that too. Kinda like, "oops, sorry...caught us
cheating? Well, here's your gold medal too!" They did deserve
it, but getting to share it with a team that you beat obviously
is.......well, its sort of tarnished....lets just give everybody a gold.

They should have made a correction.. They have taken away gold
medals before and they should have done so again.
