Indian breathing

I'm looking for a type of breathing exercise or method that comes from India and begins with a V. The man who told me about it, from India, said there's a sort of camp or retreat you don't have to pay for unless you feel you've benefited. Now, I wrote it down, intending to look it up, but I no longer remember where I wrote it...
