I was going to post this in the quartz thread as an addition to CzechWoods post but then desided to put it here in a new thread to hopefully get people talking. As I always say.. there is no right and no wrong answer here...just what we all experience as our own truths. Dont be shy... post your thoughts. This is afterall where we share our experiences with the mineral world :)

Here's a question for everyone. I have to admit first off I have not spent a long time working with any aura quartz but one thing that all of it seems to hold in common for me it that the energies of the quartz seem dulled. Dont get me wrong.. the energies are definately there...just not in a way I am comfortable with. I much prefer included quartz where the quartz 's energies are there and up front in all thier glory and the energies of the inclusions subtley change the quartz and adding to the quartz's overall energies. Aura quartz, for me at least, seems to homoginize the overall energies in a way that lessens the energies of both quartz and whatever the other mineral is. "Dulls" and "lessens" may be the wrong words as they suggest something negative and I dont think thats what I want to imply here. Its just an energy I'm not comfortable with. Others may well find this energy very useful and easy to work with. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I am fascinated by these types of crystals. I am most familar with the aqua aura quartz. It amazes me that gold bonded with the quartz turns it blue. also on some the base is not blue .Wolfsong(or anybody else) have you ever noticed that? I never toiced that with the opal auras.but i only bought very small ones. The one flame aura I have I have seen this as well.Actually right now i am holding it. Since it has niobium in it I was thinking of working with it.
also on the bottom of the flame aura it looks like gold in crystal formations

I recently came into a rather nice flame aura point that has been wrapped with copper and silver into a pendant. I would like to bead it into a necklace, but I'm at a loss for what to bead it with.

Suggestions? What stones "go" with this kind of aura quartz? I've beaded aqua aura and angel aura before, but never rainbow flame aura.

i would go with clear quartz but facetted stones, or rough herkimer stones

another good idea would be setting it into agate as to get a better grounding

It's not a piece I can set with anything else, other than beads - it's already finished as a pendant. I have considered quartz as a default option, since that's what it is, but wondered if there was anything that would be complementary other than that.

I really do not want to dampen the energy of the stone, so grounding it out with agate or other such things would be counterintuitive.

Any other ideas?

I've seen them that way, too, but I'm a beader! People don't come to me for things on strings. :p

well, if you can get hold of blue kyanite, i believe it would fit your purpose

Does anyone know what other element quartz is bonded with to make forest aura? I've gotten a forest aura point and love it, but I'm not sure what other element it has on it! lol

I may have some kyanite left - never thought of it before now. Thanks. :)

I've heard people refer to green actinolite quartz as forest quartz or garden quartz at times referred to as forest quartz but I wasn't aware that there is a manmade variety. That said I'm not really in to the manmade aura quartz but Lightdragon may know.

what color is it?

The only man made metaphysical stone i was able to get is Siberian Green quartz.which might be it if it is green.

regular non-gem quality blue/white kyanite or gem quality blue/white kyanite?

It would have been gem-quality kyanite, a very nice blue shiny bead, but it appears I have indeed used it all at this point, after searching my bead boxes.

I've never heard of forest aura myself - I've seen angel aura, rainbow aura, aqua aura, ruby aura, and cobalt aura, but not a forest aura. Hmm.

Some images, just to share with folks who might not know what aura quartz looks like:

http://www.witchscauldron.net/temp/aquaaura.jpg
Aqua Aura - quartz fused with a fine coat of pure gold.

http://www.witchscauldron.net/temp/angelaura.jpg
Angel Aura - quartz fused with a fine coat of silver and platinum

http://www.witchscauldron.net/temp/tanzineaura.jpg
Tanzine Aura - quartz fused with gold and indium

http://www.witchscauldron.net/temp/ruby_quartz.jpg
Ruby Aura - quartz fused with gold and platinum, or gold and silver

http://www.witchscauldron.net/temp/cobaltaura.jpg
Cobalt Aura - quartz fused with cobalt

There is also the Flame/Rainbow Aura I posted before, which is titanium , or titanium and niobium-fused.

I have been reading about things like Tangerine Aura, and Champagne Aura, and other colours on the internet, but I haven't seen them and I don't know what they're coloured with.

I ended up simply putting the pendant on a string of clear quartz.

Wow! I hadn't any idea there were so many different aura quartz. I love them all, Aqua Aura still being my favourite though. It's simply too beautiful. Although the Opal and Flame are truly amazing as well.

i have never heard of it ... do tell me what it is .. does it occur naturally or is it "processed" and why is it called aura quartz?

aura quartz is a man made crystal by fusing certain minerials to a quartz crystal. aqua aura is fused with gold. Why it is called aura quartz i dunno. my guess is that it gives an aura of something. angel aura gives an aura of angels, aqua aura gives the aura or aquamarine, tanzine aura gives the aura of tanzanite.

Lightdragon hit it on the nose... I would just add that the name comes from the fact that the crystal is coated/surrounded by the other metal's molecules just as the aura surrounds all objects. The molecules do not enter the crystal in any way.

Also... some varieties do occur naturally but not many and they are exceedingly rare. Most are only made possible through man-made methods.

I was wondering what I bought today! LOL It was labeled as Tanzanite Quartz. They said it wasn't natural. I came here looking & found this thread, and then I came up with this link, which seems to have some good info. Enjoy!
