I came across a book (the title escapes me) that talked about how some people use their computer for magic. For example they may make a symbol or find a picture representing their problem and then deleting it or People empowering their virtual candles on a virtual altar. Does anyone use their comp for spellwork?

I've done rituals and spellwork within Second Life before. I had an altar on there I would use while I was home and at my dorm, since I couldn't have one set up in either spot. It seemed to work great for me. :)

I will say that some types of rituals and spells are best done in the real world though, such as those requiring various quantities of herbs.

Most of what I did at that point was candle magic, as well as "sacrificing" objects to the gods by creating them myself within the gameworld, verbally dedicating the object in the real world, and then deleting it.

I don't do spells, but the internet is a good medium for sending energy.

to use a pc for a focal point, its all the same thing really..

As always, I agree.

There was a neat thread here awhile ago about using a USB key to hold sigils etc.

And there used to be software (not sure if it's still around) that you could use to put subliminal messages in your screensaver for spellwork.

I did a online ritual that an online covern had once, open for Samhain one year, a while back. It wasn't anything like celebrating with real people, or even solitary.. but the energy was still there.

I have used the internet for sending healing, and exchanging readings before, with sucess.

To me, a sigil or clip art candle on my computer doesn't hold much purpose or meaning to me, so my will would be weaker and spell would probably be far less effective that doing them with real materials. Thats not to say it can't be done - after all, your mind/will/intent and control are the most important ingredients in spellwork, IMO.

Lol. I've done this before and know a few people who do it- it works well.

It's exactly the same as having the items physically, as your intent and magic is still there- you just don't have anything to worry about beyond that.
