Being a Chartered Herbalist I have a strong interest in healing herbs....I have started growing my own from seed. I am having difficulty finding some seeds here in Canada (or anywhere for that matter)

I am trying to locate:
Good King Henry, Tansy, Lomatium, True Unicorn, Eyebright, Kava

If anyone is interested in doing a seed exchange, the plants/seeds I have so far are:

Blessed Thistle, Griffonia, False Unicorn, Elcampane, Slippery Elm
Milk Thistle, Wild Yam, Jaramia, Anise-Hyssop, Hyssop
Milkvetch, Common Caraway, Rosemary, Marshmallow, St. John's Wort
Wild Indigo, Thyme, Lobeila, American Arnica, Pleurisy Root, Aloe Vera
Echinacea, Lemon Verbena, Dill, Chervil, Borage, Liverwort, Mother Wort
Burdock,Calendula, Balm of Gilead, Chamomile (roman), Chicory, Fennel, Sweet Woodruff, Lavander, Bay, Horehound, Mint(s), Peppermint, Lemon Balm, Bergamot, Sweet Cicely, Basil, Oregano, Parsley, Sorrel, Mullein (giant grey & varigated), Rue, Sage (several kinds), Clary Sage, Soapwort,
Black Cohosh, Feverfew, Costmary, Goldenseal, Passion Flower, (Blood root started seeds in April but nothing as yet)

If anyone knows of a place where I can find seeds for the plants I am trying to locate I would sure appreciate it.
Thanks,
M

I think Kava is a tropical plant, that may be beyond you. I've seen tansy at herb specialty nurseries and as seeds. it's easy to grow (grew it in Northern PA, so should do fine for you)
look around on line for specialty mail order companies.

Depending upon if you find the tansy and yarrow to be the same, Mountain Rose Herbs has that particular seed. Aside from that, I have no help to offer, but they do have quite the selection of herbs if you may find yourself looking for others later on. Hope that helps!

http://www.richters.ca/ should have whatever you need---it's a fabulous resource.

I grow Tansy because it's an invasive weed here in zone 4b----maybe that's not the case in your faaar warmer part of canada. I never let mine go to seed for that reason, but if you still need some in the spring I might be able to send you some.

Although they have some superficial similarities I would consider tansy and yarrow quite different. I grow them both, and even my tall yellow yarrow isn't mistakable for tansy.

Some of my books cite tansy as 'not for internal use' and I use it as "ant plant" that is as an ant barrier across doors etc. What do you use it for?

Variegated Mullein?? That sounds fabulous! I encourage Mullein in my yard (I wouldn't say I 'grow' it since it volunteers itself) and I use the leaves as outside wrappers on smudge. And also just because I love the way it looks. Do you have seeds of the variegated kind?

I second the Richter's vote... a tad expensive, but very comprehensive. I only use them to buy stuff I absolutely can't find at local nursaries and garden centres... like mandrake... and belladonna...

Oh, and Aglaia, did you attend Dominion Herbal College? And if so, did you enjoy it? :)

I have bought from them in the past and when I had last checked them out they didn't have the ones that I needed

I wanted to use it as a companion plant, the place I am now at has fruit trees. As well I believe it can be used exernally for bruises and strains but many people are sensitive to it.

I should have been more precise in my description, the flowers are light pink with darker raspberry streaks (variegated probably wasn't the best term as it usually is for leaves) It is a perennial Hybrid Mullein (verbascum 'Raspberry Ripple') It has just gone to seed the for the first time this year. If you are still interested I can collect as much as I can.

I just graduated a few months ago from Dominion, found with having 3 kids and working I should have been more scheduled with the correspondence work. As a starting point for further herbal work I found the course to be great. I would have liked to have learned more about the plants (but probably will have to take a horticulture course for that).

I have just moved out here to south surrey and I am finding it hard to find anything local. I have bought from Richters and from Garden Medicinals online out of the US in the past.
