contacting the past

i have tried to contact my ancestors or the powers that be on several occasions in the attempt to learn more about my past lives. i know that there is untapped power in me, and i don't know how to better control it and manipulate it instead of just letting it recklessly react out of intuition, which may and may not have it's benifits.

somehow, i get the impression that if i could somehow gain knowledge of a previous self where i was in awareness and in practice of these powers, it would start to come back to me. if anyone can help me to greater hone how to better contact and tap into my past lives, of which i know there are several, i would be exceedingly grateful. in addition, i was wondering if anyone knew any tried and true techniques for the discovery of how many past lives one has had.

if you do a search I'm sure you will find past life regression information all over the new pagan, just pagan and magick and ritual forums here as I remember a fair few people asking questions.

I've never actually heard of people contacting their ancestors to gain knowledge of past lives. And to be honest, your ancestors might not even have a clue about who you were in a past life (they'd prolly get a giggle out of you asking and say.. "you were you in you past life!"). Most commonly it is achieved in meditation, journey/trance work. Past live regression can be 'dangerous' and caution is warned when doing meditation/trance work to recover past live knowledge and a 'spotter' (someone to watch over you, help bring you out of trance if problems arise and also record anything you might say while in meditation) is a good idea to have.

I did past life regression in a spiritual circle I used to attend, and we used two techniques which you can PM me about if you like. However, the experience was very seculded. I have never been very strong at deep meditation, however the only experience I have had has been while locating past lives and everything but the memories/experiences is blocked out - so I really recommend someone 'leading' you through it if you attempt it, just incase.

i have a couple theories for ya.

A. if youre meditating on the subject, perhaps your not asking the right questions.

B. if you are asking the right questions:
B1. you may not have a past life (or past lives) and are a new spirirt and
therefore you would not recieve and answer.
B2. your ancestors may not know because the possibilities of reincarnating
into ones own family lines are usually slim to none and therefore you
would not recieve and answer.


if you are attempting to find out if you have past lives i would suggest not asking ancestors because they may be your ancestors in this life, but more then likely not in another life. but then again, what would i know, i dont really believe in reincarnation.

I've asked my guardians about past lives (and just to confirm things I had "seen"), but not ancestors. If you believe in reincarnation, then wouldn't your ancestors also possibly be going through the cycles as well and possibly be living now? Also, as others have stated, they may have been your ancestors in this life, but they might not have been in a past life.

You could be your own ancestor if you believe reincarnation (reborn into the same familial line). 8O

I don't ask for past life info. Either it is given to me by guides/guardians (once by a mischief maker) or I get flashes of images brought on by some trigger... a person, a scene. or something. If I concentrate, I get a good deal of detail from the image (sight, smell, feel, and slight memory sense that delves a bit deeper than the moment seen).

Perhaps you aren't ready for these "untapped" abilities or you are looking in the wrong ways. Just a thought.

Good point, but I think most people would have an even harder time connecting to that self than the one that could be considered more similar (ie. human).

But it is a good thing to bring to attention.

i actually have quite a few friends who can remember non-human past lives from other realms in quite a bit of detail. but then, they don't feel fully 'human' in this realm either, so it may be that it would be harder for them to connect to a 'human' past life.

I've not met very many people who had those experiences (of non human past lives). Could be you attract people who have for a reason. :hahugh:

I remember one life as a dragon. It seems so real that I can't dismiss it as just pure imagination/hallucination.
