This is probably going to sound like a complete n00b question and for that I appologize. But I am a n00b, and I can't learn more if I don't ask!
About a year ago ... maybe a little over a year (does not feel like that long at all) ... something happened to me that made me wonder if I unintentionally did some sort of magic. I know that all of magic is based on intention, but when I did what I did, I was thinking hard that I wanted it to happen, but in no way thinking that what I was doing would cause it to happen.
I guess I should start at the beginning. Gods this is going to sound soap-opera-ish. I'm very very sorry *facepalm*. I had three friends. We'll call them Jim, Jack, and Stacy. In about 2003 or so Jim and Stacy were dating and had been for a long time, but were having a lot of problems. Jack was head over heals in love with Stacy and she liked him too but didn't want to leave Jim. Needless to say Jack and Jim didn't like each other at all. I like to write stories a lot, usually set in a sci-fi or fantasy universe, but with characters based on my RL friends. And so I was bored one day and I wrote a story about fantasy-characters based on them. It starts out just like real life but in the story Jim ends up realizing how much Stacy loves Jack and therefore decides to "let her go" so that she can be happy. Because hey, the story needed an ending. A couple weeks later I found out that Jim had broken up with Stacy and that she was now going out with Jack. So I thought "cool, just like in my story." Then I didn't see any of them for a long time. Jim and I had never been very good friends to begin with, and now that Jack had a girlfriend he wasn't around as much, and to be honest Stacy I hardly know at all other than that I knew the two guys who fought over her. So I didn't hear from any of them for about a year.
Eventually I started seeing my current boyfriend, who happened to by random coincidence be Jim's room mate, and so Jim and I became friends again. Jim was kind of moody and depressed a lot of the time because that's how he is when he's single, and he had not been in a relationship for over a year. We tried to set him up on blind dates with some of my friends (even, jokingly, Jack's sister), but it didn't really work out. Then I wrote a story about a completely fictional character. Her name was Rowena. I decided that for fun I would have Rowena fall in love with the same character from before who was based on Jim. Jim's character was the broody angst-boy and Rowena was determined to save him. Rowena and Jim do end up together in the end, because what can I say, I am a hopeless romantic. A week later I go to a bar with a group of friends and I find out that out of the blue Jim has a girlfriend. I only met her once, briefly, because they later got married and moved to Florida together, but she looked a lot like Rowena's description in my story.
So I know this sounds crazy and I just thought it was an amusing coincidence, but if I really put enough thought into my story, like "I really really wish this would happen in real life," do you think that could have on some plane effected the outcome of actual events?
I'm pretty sure it was just a random coincidence. But if anyone has any input I would love to know about it
Like I said, very n00bcakes question. But I am still very knew to the very idea that our thoughts and energy can effect the real world and so I'm still getting used to what is plausible and what isn't.
Thanks!
