Hello Ev1.
I'm new to your community and I love it. I have been reading the posts all day. There is so much info here, and ev1 seems to work so well together. I love your pictures! Great idea!
I have been learning tarot for 2 months now. It has had such an impact on my life. It's sort of like being in school all over again, with how much there is to learn! Right now my kids think I'm a little wierd sleeping with a deck of cards under my pillow or holding them to my chest while we watch a movie. I keep telling them it must mean I'm the coolest mom in town...
Well I'm having sort of a problem. I can give myself a reading, but I'm having trouble knowing how to say things when I give a reading. I hope that made sense? I dont want it to sound as if Ive read it word for word from a book. I dont seem to have any trouble reading the cards. I come across some that I need to revert back to a book, but not often. I've become very good at looking at the inner meanings of the card and not the surface. I just cant seem to pick up how to read it to someone else so my words flow..I guess that's how I would describe it. I want my words to flow together and make sense not only to me but the querent. Thank you so much for listening! Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Howdy!

Well....what I do when I read for other people (usually it's online, so I can do this. :)) is I write out what the cards are telling me, usually in point form, and then I string what I read together when I'm typing up the reading. :)

I used to have a problem knowing what to say when I did readings for other people too. When I would read for myself, I just *knew* what they were trying to tell me. So, when I started to read for other people, I would describe the position (it's meaning) that I was laying the card in, then I would describe the details of the card that *stuck out* to me and incorporated it's meaning into that of the position's meaning. Then I would move on to the next card, and I would go through the process again only I would use the previous card as a segway. Remember, with a spread, the cards tell a story. At first, it seems you are jumping into the middle of the story, but I'm sure your querant will know what you are talking about. Like with the CC spread, you start out with the feelings of the querant with card one, then move on to card two, the obstacles or aids that are coming into the picture. Then, I drop down and read the foundation card to see what and how the "situation" has been brought about. From there, you go to the resent past position, to see how things have progressed from the beginning. ....and so on and so forth. :D

I agree with Dagda, its just like telling a story, you just have to find a starting point.
The cards often flow into eachtoher, one picks up where the other finished. So If you are doing a spread like the celtic Cross start at the begining and work your way round.. If a past, present, future start again at the begining and look at all three cards toegther as well as seperatley for repeating themes and messages.

I often find it hard to get the first sentence out, to make the start but as soon as I do it seems to flow. My tarot guide is helping me out and will be with you too, but also the first few words are always the hardest in any situation, you just have to get past them then it will flow really easily.

Also if you think about the story and the similarities of the cards, how many court, major? how many cups, swords..? How many happy/sad? do the cards have any other themes in them? can you see another pattern? These are all things that you can start on if you dont neccesarily want to start with the first card.

Hope to see you around soon :sunny:
