Message from mol:

And now for something completely different!

http://www.mysticwicks.com/mwmarket/

The MW Market is open! That is right. Our online store is finally up and running and we currently have over 1100 products with great prices and new products are being added daily. DAILY! This is not an auction and this is not used or resale stuff. This is not a place where you are buying from other members (use the MW Marketplace/auctions for that). This is an online store with actual stock! We ship via USPS Priority (with delivery confirmation where available) for a low fee of only $7.95 no matter how many products you order...anywhere in the United States! And our international shipping prices are VERY reasonable. So, if you are going to buy any kind of Pagan/Spiritual related products from altar cloths to wands and Tarot cards to athames then shop at the MW Market!! Here is the link:

Thank you all so much for all of your support!

I have a question, too. What is the policy on shipping athames to people in states that don't allow double-edged knives? (Like Massachusetts.) Do you still ship them, figuring it's a don't-ask-don't-tell kind of thing, or do you not sell them to people in those states?

If I might answer Vesta's question. It is not illegal to ship them to Mass - (as a store owner herre I can verify that fact. What the law truly states is that you can not carry it down the street unless its in an locked case. Simple as that.

There should be a disclaimer for the Salvia Divinorium.
It can not be sold to some countries.
Salvia Divinorum is prohibited in Australia, South Korea, Denmark, Italy and Belgium, period!
And 2 states I believe also have laws for it. There is a in an ad on the Market site:
"is unscheduled & legal to possess." Not totally true, depends on location.

Oh and I smoke so was looking at that section, what? No shisha?

All right... but then, what's the reasoning behind closing down those two stores in a mall in Taunton that sell double-edged knives? I only caught it briefly on the news the other day. I'm not trying to be ornery, I'm just confused and seeking clarification because I'd like to buy one, but I don't want to get in trouble, either.

Vesta Dawn,

I have found many things stating it is illegal to carry double bladed knives but I have not been able to find any information stating that it is illegal to purchase them.

http://pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/ma.txt

(b) Whoever, except as provided by law, carries on his
person, or carries on his person or under his control
in a vehicle, any stiletto, dagger or a device or case
which enables a knife with a locking blade to be drawn
at a locked position, any ballistic knife, or any knife
with a detachable blade capable of being propelled by any
mechanism, dirk knife, any knife having a double-edged blade,
or a switch knife, or any knife having an automatic spring
release device by which the blade is released from the
handle, having a blade of over one and one-half inches,
or a slung shot, blowgun, blackjack, metallic knuckles
or knuckles of any substance which could be put to the
same use with the same or similar effect as metallic
knuckles, nunchaku, zoobow, also known as klackers or
kung fu sticks.... (continued in link)

Also from the same link:

Manufacturing and selling knives,
slung shots, swords, bludgeons and similar weapons; punishment.

Section 12. Whoever manufactures or causes to be manufactured,
or sells or exposes for sale, an instrument or weapon of the
kind usually known as a dirk knife, a switch knife or any knife
having an automatic spring release device by which the blade is
released from the handle, having a blade of over one and one-half
inches or a device or case which enables a knife with a locking
blade to be drawn at a locked position, any ballistic knife, or
any knife with a detachable blade capable of being propelled by
any mechanism, slung shot, sling shot, bean blower, sword cane,
pistol cane, bludgeon, blackjack, nunchaku, zoobow, also known
as klackers or kung fu sticks, or any similar weapon consisting
of two sticks of wood, plastic or metal connected at one end by
a length of rope, chain, wire or leather, a shuriken or any
similar pointed starlike object intended to injure a person when
thrown, or a manrikigusari or similar length of chain having
weighted ends; or metallic knuckles or knuckles of any other
substance which could be put to the same use and with the same
or similar effect as metallic knuckles, shall be punished....(continued in link)

It doesn't list double bladed knives as illegal to manufacture or sell. Also, I have not found anywhere that it states it is illegal to possess them.

I think we're safe. I'll keep researching it and I will verify with the distributor but for now I'm going to assume we are OK.

Shanti, I'll do some research on that too to make sure we're covered. Thanks!

I also wanted to mention that new things are being added every day but if you are looking for something that we have not added yet please let either mol or me know (I'd prefer if you contacted me instead of mol in for this). We'll do our best to find it and add it for you. We have received some great feedback so far with great suggestions on what else you guys would like to see in the store. Keep it coming.

Vesta....here's exactly what you can and cannot do......

Lets start with the two stores. they werent shut down because they carried double edged knives .. they were shut down because they carry throwing stars, nunchucks, and other forms of illegal weapons.

There has been a fallacy in our state for many years, and here is how it happened, and what the law actually states is and is not possible.

Back about 15 yrs ago a person bought an athame from a store. This person stabbed and killed someone with it in a fight. The Police traced the athame back through the store to the distributor (hint -- distributor initials are AG). The state atty gave the company a choice-- defend itself in court, or agree to no longer sell athames in MA. The company chose the latter and began to proclaim on its site "not available in Massachusetts" (note this does NOT say "ILLEGAL in Massachusetts", or illegal to SELL in Massachusetts"). Other companies caught wind of what this company did, and followed suit figuring that the company knew what it was doing in its own state. And the company never mentioned WHY they did it (I wouldnt either- why give sales way to competitors?).

Now, here's what the law is:

You may NOT carry a blade longer than 3.5 inches (single or double edged - that doesnt matter) on your person, in your vehicle, or anywhere else you have access to USE it at any time. It is not illegal to purchase one, nor is it illegal to possess it in your home. Its also not illegal to sell one. Here is the way it has to be done (if you wished to take it to a private ritual etc). You MUST carry it in a locked box (briefcase, metal box, anything that preventsd you from having easy access to it). This box MUST be locked, and not on the front seat of your car for example (in the trunk would be appropriate if you were to travel with it). the law is aimed at preventing someone from walking down the street carrying this item, or having it hidden on their person (for obvious reasons).

My source for this info? My business partner, who is a Deputy Sheriff for Bristol County Mass. I hope this helps you out.......

Wanted to purchase some cone incense, but nothings up. Aside from making my own for ritual, I like to have cones to burn in my cauldron for everyday...

Any word on the incense inventory?? :)

And here it is October 1st and I still don't have my order. Hmmm..... Wondering if any other's have had this problem?

Not MW, but flakey vendor perhaps? I've tried contacting to no avail. Hate having to bug MW/GEBS/Mol for info...

Yup, it's official. I officially got ripped off by the Thrifty Pagan. Didn't take me for more than 30 bux, but still. Very glad I didn't pop for that crystal ball I wanted. Glad mol finally pulled the store off too...

Telephone number that goes to nowhere, loser who doesn't return emails (mine or mols), but that's ok because my bank is going after him and he's been reported to the folks at the National Online Fraud Center, who are going to check him out as well.

Let's not even go to the bad karma this doopwad is going to face... Good times!

I feel horrible about this. I did pull the site offline, but I think one more order went through before I did. I don't know what happened. TP was filling orders for us and then they just stopped. :(

So not your fault, mol - you and I have been over that... I just wanted to come in and vent.

I like the word doopwad, it goes nicely with f'tard, another favorite for describing ASSHOLES who rip people off.

He'll get his. For sure... Rip off a witch? ;)
